Australia imports zero unskilled people, except a few by marriage - illegals can't get residence or benefits and fnd it very hard to get work.
Minimum wage means there is not much point in employing illegals unless the business itself is illegal.

I can't believe how anyone could turn away people fleeing starvation, war, unlawful prosecution, etc because they would rather play on the fear of an influx and loss of jobs when that would never happen anyway.

This is absolutely right. The "Fuck off were full " mob are an embarrassment to the country. Prefer immigrants any day.

Don't know if you guys watched the SBS doco on the Howard Years tonight, (not to be confused with the ABC documentary titled "the Howard Years" this was called "Liberal Rule") but it struck me just how the public response to Howard's world view for Australia the went so against the publics, compared with Rudd's views and the public acceptance today.

Remember the mass protests against work choices?
Remember the mass protests against voluntary student unionism?
Remember the mass protests against his refusal for reconciliation?
Remember the mass protests against our involvement in Iraq?

It's hard to even fathom Rudd getting to the stage where anything of that scale would take place.

There are probably about a billion people in that category worldwide, we can't take them all.

Rich Asians are more benificial to Australia than bogans tbh.

I remember when I was back in Brisbane and people gave Asians shit for being rich, thinking the Government gave Asians handouts.
