All ranked game servers are more expensive. A 16 size BF2 server is $19.95. An 8 person L4D server is $9.95. You're getting double the slots on a BF2 server, therefore you're paying more.

And why would you compare a 64 size BF2 server with an 8 person L4D server?

Just showing how a new game is still even cheapper, and yea I know its only 8 man, but what about COD ?? 64 man but dam near half the price for a newer game bla bla bla.... yet infairness in this day and age its not like the server is being stressed etc etc one would think they would start to lower the prices by now !

They're running a business. And since the game is still somewhat popular and still has a decent amount of players, they're going to keep charging good money for it.

Since the interest for BF2 is getting smaller, and more and more servers are IO karkand exclusively.
I think EA should put up some servers that run SF, EU and EF maps with vehicles so we get our moneys worth.

Its not really about the game being old and thus less expensive. It is about servers themselves.

Our clan rents a server, think of it like renting a computer not renting just the game server. We can host whatever we want on it. In fact we do host whatever we want on it.

We do CoD 4 and that doesn't cost a penny extra.
We do BF2 athought ranked does cost extra dollars because EA sucks.
We even do our teamspeak off the same server box.

You get what you pay for. BF2 requires much more system resources than CoD 4 and left 4 dead put together so a better server commands a higher price.
Im not speaking about graphics because a server would not need to run any graphics at all. But to track 64 player on a map 10 times the size of CoD 4 you can imagine how processor intensive that is. Especially when everyone is spamming nades and shit left and right.
