So, Kalifornia is paying for a portion of this shit, 5 million dollars- And thousands of state workers, and the above stated, are going to be going home soon to see no food on the table until OCTOBER.

Fuck this state and its irresponsibility. Our houses property tax just went up again! super. Next year my school will have 1 counselor for 3000 kids, no activities director, no special education, no transportation, 40 average kids to a class. and a long list of other layoffs.

I believe me and my family have had the last straw with this financial clusterfuck. I can't find the video, but some cunt senator said something like "it sounds great to live fiscally responsible, to spend what we make, and not go further into debt, and we would be a better state, but... lets be honest...we just can't do that" I'm convinced this is NEVER going to get better. The DEMS admitted they want to raise sales tax and other taxes even higher- Such as gasoline, which just cost me 50 bucks for 16 gallons. Or sales tax, which is 9.775 in LA county. Jesus- I'm just wondering how far they can keep raping me. Our vehicle registration fees for renewal were something like 500 and 1000 dollars.

I see these idiots widening roads, ripping up perfectly fine slopes to replant, repaving roads, throwing palm trees everywhere. WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON. I get accused of being selfish for not being a democrat because I "don't like to share"- NO- I just don't like to waste fucking money on Michael Jacksons fucking stupid memorial when we have a 25 BILLION DOLLAR FUCKING DEFICIT.

My dads business hasn't been making shit due to the fucking business taxes / slow ass economy so were living off fucking savings retirement and equity line. I can't afford shit and im flat out fucking broke.  I CANT AFFORD TO PAY FOR MICHAEL FUCKING JACKSONS SHIT or any other wastefull bullshit.

So, you are flat broke, but driving a car requiring $1K in Registration fees...  I own a 2008 $32000 car and only pay over $400 in registration.  I'm in SoCal.  Registration cost is based on age and purchase price.   Hmmm....

Firstly you didn't seem to provide a link or source talking about the 5 million dollars. Secondly you didn't provide what the 5 million dollars was for or what it was spent on. Thirdly it's highly doubtfull that they spent the 5 million dollars on the actual memorial service itself. More like the cost of policing the event and other things probably totalled to 5 million, and there's nothing they could have done to stop themselves spending that money as large crowds were expected.

California's biggest problem is that it wants to move toward European level benefits without paying European level taxes.

You can't have the benefits without the taxes.

If you want taxes to remain low and to eventually decrease your debts, you're gonna have to spend less on everything.

If you want benefits and public infrastructure to improve, you're gonna have to pay more taxes.  That's how it works.

I agree, but there's not really a choice when it comes to something like this. There has to be a police/security presence in such situations. Anyway they talk about how Jackson's death is actually a boost in the economy as people go out to buy his Albums and memorabilia and shit.

There's nothing nobody can do, not even Jackson's family, about the amount of people that turned up. I suppose they could've at the extreme level just completely shut everything off, but in the real world, that would never happen. He was simply too famous of a guy for this sort of shit not to happen.

Like i said in the first bit, i'm pretty sure they have to provide some form of crowd control. That doesn't mean i think the money couldn't have been used better elsewhere, but it did have to be used there.

And as someone posted above, the fans are trying to donate. And donation in a bigger form is pretty obvious if you check out the charts.



Regardless, i don't give a damn about the whole MJ thing, and it's all being horrendeously overcovered and overexploited.

Have you even stopped to consider how much they are getting back?  Tens of thousands of people have converged on LA since his death and need food, accommodation, gas etc so I am sure they'd be making more than the initial investment of $5mil.

I see your point even though you've only given us a small part of the overall picture.  Why don't you post how much money is being injected into the economy by the sudden increase in sales of his records, considering he is number one in most parts of the world for singles and albums, I bet it is way more than $5mil.
