Yes thats why I use vacuum cleaners once a week to clean myself. Recommended.

I've done this before with my keyboard as well as some old PC components. Dried it off with a towel and let it dry for half a day. Everything still works perfectly
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

*presse Tab button"

"oh, no time for a tab, the computers starting"

It's always the same story when someone decides to wash their keyboard

If you let it dry before plugging it in again it will be fine. I've done it plenty of times

You should stick it in the oven on a low temp for a few hours.  See if you can't bake the water out of the components.  Like a roast, low and slow.

iirc, it was an older IBM keyboard, it might have been on it's way out anyway.

Cheapo keyboards will even work when wet. Only the fancy ones with LCDs and the like are problematic.

Ya know I've heard of this working before too. Of course I think folks normally disassemble the keyboard and remove the electronic parts first...generally the rubber and plastic will survive the top dishwasher rack.

When I clean my k/b (which I really must do soon) I just unscrew the face plate and submerge it in a few cm's of water in the bath, use a cleaning brush and some washing up liquid. Job's a good 'un

However, I don't have a dish washer

it does work. i generally use the sink though, a full cycle might be a bit too much.

I'm thinking about doing that to my laptop. I can't find the right size screwdriver to disassemble the thing to get to the keyboard out of it so I figure I'll put it in for a cycle. How long should I wait for it to dry?

This isn't retarded at all ... using the dishwasher to clean your keyboard works just fine as long as it is completely dry before you plug it in, it is actually THE best way to clean your keyboard to remove fat and dust ...

And like .sup ... 10-15 minutes is enough ...

Best way would be to unscrew the keyboard, remove the printed board and put all the plastic one in the dishwasher, this ensuring no electronic are getting water on them ...
