It's a ridiculous problem that plagues poor areas of cities. Crimes go unsolved because of this 'stop snitching' bullshit. I bet if these idiots were victims of crime they'd want every witness to it to 'snitch.'

There's witness protection if they really need it. There's also this thing called selfless contribution... I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing that information I had could have led to a rapist or murderer's arrest. Then again, I was brought up with values.AussieReaper wrote:

And you also said "could have led to a rapist or murderer's arrest" the key word being could. There is no certainty the police will act on your information or that if they do you are going to see an arrest.
Do you know how many witness protections fail? For some people the risk is simply too high. Or they are not snitching in order to protect not only themselves, but family members.

Depends on the crime and the circumstances surrounding it.
Well in the Urban areas they take matters into there own hands.
If you have witnessed a crime more then likely you either "snitch" and nothing really happens because it's your word against there or the crime that you witness isn't an intercommunity crime.
Inter community crime = a crime against someone in the same community, so basically a crime that is bringing money into your community from someone outside. If you snitched on that the person would get fined and that money would be living the community and going to the government.
