Find proof of it before you make an audacious claim like that...  Ha....

To be honest, I understand. Most of the people on this forum are not even out of school yet and all have wide eyed viws on how things are or should be. Once they have to fend for themselves in the real world, their attitudes change

Racism is way overrated. It's wrong of course but people do a lot stupider things that people don't demonize nearly as much.

I don't have problem with the acknowledgement of racism. What I don't like are racists screaming racism. I am fed up the the double standards regarding racism and the lack of acknowledgement that those double standards exist, or the attempt at justifying them.

It has nothing to do with that. It just has to do with me just not really caring or getting personally affected by insults like that. Nor should the girls in Imus's case, nor should Sarah Palin and her blinded followers (DB1 and Catbox), nor should anyone with anyone with insults really. With Imus and Letterman...they're entertainers at the end of the day. They might've gone a little far, but that's what they do. I've heard a lot worse on separate issues with Leno.

I mean, it's like what you see in this exact thread. Catbox and DB1 are up to their usual non-contributive ways, but hey, who cares? I'm pretty sure everyone already knows the type of radical opinions they both have and nobody really takes them seriously. You might have some strong opinions too on some issues but like Kmar told you (yes, I stalked your karma ) - you're actually quite level headed. Can't say the same for them. Any time anyone dares post something against their opinion, they'll just get an ad hominem attack in return. It's actually quite amusing.

How ironic is it when a 17 year old can debate better and is more mature than 2 30+ year olds who supposedly have families? They might have the experience, but certainly not the brains.

I'm pretty sure everyone here knows there's a lot of double standards with racism.

Also, just to back up my original point - nobody was never "crucifying" Imus here...I might've said apologizing would be the right thing to do but I never called for his head.

It is true, even I, in my youth ( early 20's), was anti-gun. I did not own one and did not see the need for anyone else t own one either.

Now I am even giving my kids guns for Christmas .

Attitudes do change with age, when you have worked hard to build a life for yourself and your family, you are not so willing to just drink the kool aid and succumb to the idea that you are supposed to work to support everyone. It is not a palatable notion that your private achievement in life is supposed to be shared by the masses., and it is not worth protecting.

What about the people? We are all free to succeed or fail based on the choices we make. Why do you keep the notion that MY hard work is supposed to support everyone who doesn't work hard? I have my own family and my own responsibilities to support, why are insistent that I support everyone elses family and responsibilities? Why are you not insisting that those people maintain their own commitments, and their own lives?

What do you think will happen to our country when you take away all incentive to achieve and replace it with entitlement?

I once thought like you (when at school). Anyone who couldn't succeed was beyond help and not worthy of help. The only government provided utilities should be education up till year 10 and defence (police and military). Everyone should pay for their own medical treatments. Taxes were  woefully unfair on the rich etc.

Then I grew up, realised the world isn't just about me, that my views were selfish, self centred, even narcissistic in nature. That not everyone had the luxuries that I had genetically, emotionally and financially while growing up and helping the community and having the government provide things like free healthcare, free (or subsidised) university and trade education were all worthwhile, things which I had benefited off and think others who were less fortunate should have to same opportunities I had.

Yes Lowing, people are entitled to a decent standard of living, they are entitled to programs and opportunities to enable them so succeed no matter the financial position of their parents.
