Pres. Obama continues to disappoint the Armenian-American community. After breaking two promises in a row on key Armenian issues — not acknowledging the Armenian Genocide and proposing reduced U.S. aid levels to Armenia — he appoints Philip Gordon Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.

Dr. Gordon, a former Director of the Brookings Institution — a think thank partially funded by Turkish sources — has written several pro-Turkish books and articles. He has been an opponent of congressional acknowledgment of the Armenian Genocide and a critic of Greek Cypriot leaders rather than the occupying Turkish forces. Gordon served in the Clinton administration as Director for European Affairs at the National Security Council. During the last presidential campaign, he served as head of the Europe team in Obama’s group of foreign policy advisers.

Armenian-Americans will continue to face great resistance in their lobbying efforts from pro-Turkish elements in Washington — regardless of which party is in power and who is president — unless they can expand their political influence beyond Congress into the Executive Branch, Think Tanks and the media.

Horrible genocide from the books I've read on it. I, for one, believe it is time for the Turkish Government to acknowledge the genocide and move past the issue.

what do you think bf2s?

Yeah, Dick Gephardt is another Turkey lackey.

Unfortunately, certain members of the Democratic party have made the mistake of selling themselves to the Turkish government.

The genocide obviously happened, but for some reason, Turkey just can't own up to it.

I just don't understand the fuss tbh.

There have been many serious crimes committed since then and there isn't the big deal.

I would suggest the Armenians simply kill an bunch of Turks.

Yeah, the Holocaust isn't really that big of a deal either. 12 million? Pfft.

I'm not trying to be a smart ass.

I don't understand why this is still a problem, that's all I'm saying.

Maybe somebody could explain it.

It's a problem because Turkey won't admit it happened.

Look at the fuore around the Holocaust deniers.

Yeah, I guess the international response to the ethnic cleansing that took place and the subsequent hunting of the people responsible means it wasn't important. Only Jews are important remember.

You see, it's a statement like that coupled with the frequent Israel hate you tend to spew which really makes me question your agenda.

Don't forget the massive grassroots movements to stop the genocides in Rwanda and Darfur. But those aren't important either.

You got me i am a nazi and every morning i sieg heil at the picture of adolf hitler and i pray for killing jews.

/so you know i am being sarcastic

Let me remind you here about the concentration camps in bosnia or mass genocide in Rwanda. Where somebody giving a damn about them.
How many genocides have there been since ww2. And did any one care about them. But yet the only one we are thought since we are in school is the Jewish death camps. Don't get me wrong it's a tragedy what happened. But focusing on one and ignoring the others is ignorant.
I remember the main focus about learning ww2 death camps was suppose to stop happening again. Guess what ? If it happens again tomorrow nobody will give a damn unless there is some interest in it.

Then your school sucks shit.

Hearing about Darfur is damn near a constant in my school. We even had a "Dance for Darfur" ffs.

If you only hear about the Holocaust when genocide is brought up, either you're not paying attention or like I said, your school just sucks.

I just did.

There's such a huge "Stop the genocide in Darfur" movement in the US. If you honestly think nobody cares about it, you're either naive, ignorant, or a mix of the two.

Ohh please there is a genocide in darfaur and people are demonstrating. How touching , i am sure if there is a genocide in my country will fell real warm and fuzzy knowing that while somebody is killing me that there is a movement. Wake up and smell the truth, actions speaks louder then words. Just like rwanda, cambodia, bosnia or any other one. No government will stick it's head unless there is something to be gained.
And a movement in your local area will not convince a government to send troops unless you can get the hole country to speak up.

So first you say that nobody cares about Darfur, and then when I show you a lot of people indeed do, you try to deny it by claiming "oh, it's just a movement".

Wow. And um, was there NOT military intevention in Bosnia? You anger Wesley Clark.

https://www.wired.com/news/images/full/ap_wesley_clark_f.jpg

You wouldn't like Wesley Clark when he's angry.

MOAB just earlier stated that there was military intervention in Bosnia to stop the ethnic cleansing and the people who committed the act were hunted down and are still being hunted down. But I'm sure you just conveniently skipped over that post.
