http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6883113094

$399.99 for:
6GB DDR2 ram (4 used banks)
640GB SATA 7200RPM
Integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9200
(1 unused? pci-e slot)
Intel Pentium dual-core E5200(2.50GHz)

Except for the integrated GPU you get good bang for your bucks ... it's cheap but hard to upgrade later ... I would not have bought it tbh ...

No.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

But... there's an empty pci-e bus to be used if need be...?
uh anyway
atm I'm dealing with some stock 1.8g single core processor with my 1 gb of ram and a (pci, mind you) geforce 5700 (128mb)

Yeah ... but integrated is a word when it comes to computers you stay far away from ... it's one of the biggest NOs when it comes to PCs ...

ok. Basically, Integrated means that instead of having a dedicated card with memory, chip, etc. etc, it's on the mobo, and usually just consits of the graphics chip... as a result, it will actually use system memory, thereby reducing what your OS can use.

Oh I see. So it's not comparable to a dedicated gpu?

I don't thinks a bargain. You might as well buy a Lenovo laptop if you are limited to that range.

I feel your pain.

for a while I was dealing with a 1.8Ghz single core, 256 MB RAM, and integrated graphics.(not fun)

Integrated graphics suck though, don't go with it.

Basically, this is what $400 will get you in parts.

Now I appreciate your chances of getting a whole rig are better than getting parts, but this is so much more worth it if you can.
