bloom is a fad in computer graphics

apparently they had to attempt to beat MW3 in every aspect including bloom amount

I gave up on this game already. I'm interested now in Bc3. That series has more potential than the main battlefield line.
Macbeth, you paint your toenails when you're bored, and then come online to ask for help to remove it. Your opinion no longer counts. Ever.

Btw, what the fuck was that about? I mean seriously, who the hell does that? (unless you're struggling with your sexuality, then i guess it's okay).

it's not so much a fad as a new strategy to make a game look super-good on modest hardware. bloom and lighting effects like that reduce the amount of textural and level detail that has be rendered, because it's all hazed out under this fucking glow.

So nvidia control panel will let me adjust the color, hue, saturation, which should hopefully let me adjust it to make things bearable in BF3. But it looks like I'll have to open up the control panel and change this every single time I play. Lucky for me I hardly play.. I guess.

I think they should continue to work on the lighting effects in games in general, but the amount of bloom is just ridiculous sometimes.

If they could have the lighting effects emulate the lighting in GT5, but to DX10/11 standards, I think it would be much easier on the eyes. It would probably look more realistic as well. Before anyone flames me, I realize that GT5 is basically running on DX9 technology. Regardless, my eyes never get fatigued when playing GT5 for hours, and it seems to be a pretty accurate representation of the actual lighting conditions on the track at that particular time of day.

dx10/11 is overrated, they just incorporated lots of stuff that devs could already do in DX9 in a more efficient/easy to use form

dx10 was actually a leap ahead in my ways from dx9, in terms of physics integration coming simultaneously and all sorts of light and rendering effects. dx11 is just dx10 repackaged in a less demanding form, yep. more efficient, slightly improved effects, but seemingly always to the detriment of the actual gameplay.

I have to agree.
The have totally overdone this shit.
Everything glares like a fucking waxed apple. Every single stone. Every single piece of paper.

Glare is all good and nice if it's applied physically correct to objects that actually do glare in reality.
Which would be water surfaces, glass windows and metal surfaces.
But not the surface of a brick wall that looks like it has endured 20 years of sand storms in a Middle Eastern desert.

Apparently, the art director has worked on the game after the programmers did their job on the physics engine.

it's all just one big fuckup imo. too many things about the game simply don't work. the basic gameplay is boring, mundane, and really fucking easy. all the weapons and unlocks and 'omg cool!' stuff just adds a level of headache-complexity and with it, of course, the impossibility of ever reaching a decent, happy game-balance. the graphics aren't 'oooh pretty!' enough to forgive this... in fact, they're fucking annoying too, and give me a headache. the sound is great but i mean to enjoy this game i would have to play with my eyes closed whilst not caring much about the shooting-element. so basically i should just buy the bf3 soundtrack, or open its sound-files in windows media player, and otherwise uninstall the game.

i dont like the map boundaries at all on any map.

run around hotel, get shot by some mong on hotel, spawn on f35 with intent to knife dickhead on hotel, bail of out jet 20m to the side of hotel, cant get back within boundaries within 10 seconds, die.

i dont like that i cant enter enemy bases either

it's the reason you can't see shit and need a 3d spotting hud to actually find enemies

even a jet is invisible as seen from above
It's so unbelievably hard to see much of anything in this game. I notice myself blinking and peering like 10 inches from the screen sometimes. Super over saturated.

It's really pathetic how much I want to like this game, or at least shows how bored I get at work. I'll spend a lot of time reading up on the meta game, strategies, tips, tactics, info about weapons and attachments, vehicles, everything. And then when I get home and have some time to play, there's always something else I'd rather be doing.

Still don't feel this was a huge waste of money though. Nothing will ever top the regret of my Black Ops purchase.

i was that way about eve online. after like 2 years of trying trials and forking out 1-month £15 payments, i finally realised it was just inherently unplayable and unfun for 75% of players. i think it's the same for bf3 (from the perspective of players that are familiar with bf2, or other fps games, generally).

Just finished a couple rounds of Karkand. Atleast on 64 conquest it was too ADD for my taste. Dunno about rush with 32. Might be more fun. So far my favorite has been Sharqi. Like it a lot.

I guess what's keeping me going is wanting to try out every gun. They all seem different enough to make some sort of a difference in how to use them. I'm not going to lie, the fact that you have to unlock attachments keeps me using it until I get the service star, then I move on to another gun.

I agree with what you all have been saying, the maps need to be bigger and more epic. BF2 maps, in general, were really large and had a much bigger feel than the maps in BF3.

Sharqi has been my favorite by far (but it was in BF2 as well...). It feels the truest to the original, but still incorporates all the aspects of the new engine very nicely.

I couldn't believe it only received maybe 7% of the votes for "most anticipated map" of B2K.
