Yeah i noticed in the Alpha, every minute you got an award for something, no real sense of achievement. But the final version may have something up its sleeve, hopefully.Adams_BJ wrote:

I think it'd be pretty cool if they did single player like a tutorial... something that teaches you all the controls, how to drive and fly vehicles with time challenges or something with a narrative and is wrapped up in 2 or 3 hours. Then you say "okay, done with that" and go play the REAL game.. which is the multiplayer.SEREMAKER wrote:
I'd rather have a fucking outstanding MP and NO SP then have a good SP and good MP
I'm not buying BF3 for the SP and neither is anyone else ...... instead of having the manhours/power that was delegated to SP they should have had all hands on deck to MP and only MP
But Battlefield making a 10 hour or more flashy singleplayer just to compete with CoD's lame ass seems like a waste
so what you're saying is fire the AI guy because he's a waste of space and a pay check for this project due to the fact no-one ( in their right mind ) want a SP with BF3 and would prefer a flawless MP game and hire a programmer to work along with the rest of the MP crew to make sure they work out the bugs before release dayjmsprovan wrote:
an AI programmer isn't much use in a MP only game, ect.SEREMAKER wrote:

There are lots of similar reasons why it isn't just as simple as thinking that everyone in a game studio can do one thing.
There are lots of similar reasons why no-one wants a SP in this game, it isn't just as simple as thinking thats it waste
So the 1.25 million pre-orders don't want SP either?SEREMAKER wrote:

Most people from BF2 don't, I personally don't mind what they do, but times have changed and it would be impossible to bring out BF3 MP only in this day and age.
To convert COD players to BF players would also be difficult, and EA are a money making company who watched COD BO generate $1 billion. They want a slice of it and look like they are trying to create a Great SP and a Great MP.
yeah because 1.25 million preorders was because they announced that BF3 was going to have SP and 1.25 million ppl scrambled to get the orders in as quick as humanly possibleUK|Hooligan wrote:

the rest of us that want BF3 for the MP are going to wait till about a week after it comes out to go over and pick it up ..... you know wait till the excitement simmers down
oh and COD
From the BFBlog about awards and ranks, one of the examples they gave was the 'US Army Service Medal' which they said needed 100 hours played as US - the same amount of time for BF2's equivalent, the Navy Cross. So hopefully they have a few more rewards in there that take some time and dedication to get.UK|Hooligan wrote:

Though it seems for BF3 they've replaced the pins of BC2 with ribbons - ones you can get repeatedly with every half dozen kills/revives/revenges/etc. I guess they had to do something with the ribbons, seeing as many of BF2's ribbons could be received over the course of a single game making them a little on the pointless side, but this seems the wrong way to go about it. As said above, there's no real sense of achievement for doing something so straightforward and easy. I mean, even the more basic of BF2's ribbons took a bit of skill to get, such as the jet ribbon (15 minutes and 19 kills in a jet, compared to BF3's measly 6 kills). If they're just going to be handing them out like candy, I think they're going to get annoying pretty fast.

Agree. Back in the day I used to play SP and never jumped into MP. Then I decided one day to click on the multiplayer button in COD and never looked back. Playing against real people instead of AI was a better challenge and much more satisfying.SEREMAKER wrote:

I think a good SP is a good intro to a game, the maps, controls, eqpt etc. It helps even things up a little for people who have just bought it compared with those who have been playing MP for months or weeks. Learning a map when you're dying 2 seconds after spawning is tedious.
It helps if the SP isn't 100% linear, you don't purely have to follow a series of waypoints.
I thought the COD4 SP was pretty good, the MP utter shit.

So I'm sure you didn't like BF2 MP at all either?Dilbert_X wrote:

the russians you fight are bad russians (well they're technically "rebel" elements of the russian army), so they have bad aimaerodynamic wrote:

I mean you also fight the russians in this game...so they all suck to at aiming because they are not 'mericans or british?
Kamarov and his crew has the AI aim enhancement as well,

how long does it take for them to make adjustments before it goes gold? Weren't the old betas released 2 months or so before the game came out?
Most changes would be included in a Launch-day patch.Spearhead wrote:

As if theyre going to change major gameplay elements after the beta. Its most likely just a demo, to give us a taste of 64 players vehicle gameplay. I expect nothing but small tweaks
bc2 changed quite a lot between beta and full releaseKampframmer wrote:

all I remember was vehicle alt changing from a coax MG to a AT launcher on the bradley
Games can change greatly between beta and final release. In parts of halo 3 massive changes were made, also in halo 1 and 2. So anything is possible.
Most noticeable was player movement: it felt like you had the lightweight kit perk at all times, if not even faster. I remember being able to scale hills on Port Valdez effortlessly compared to how it felt in the release version.Trotskygrad wrote:

Amongst various other little things I'm certain....
