It's only 7 bucks for 2 hours, and I get $10/h at my landscaping job. So in one hour of landscaping I get enough to play for 2 hours and buy a drink. I am saving up for a car and computer though.

Wonder if BF3 pistols are any good. It they add sway to the weapons, maybe we won't have people getting hit by a sniper rifle then a follow up from 1 pistol shot across the map.
Wow, that's just dumb.

It would be cheaper in the long run to just save your money.

I also find it sad that I work my ass off every day and make less than shifty does. How the fuck does that work.
Well you see Rukus, I have friends, and we like to have a good time gaming together, except none of us have computers capable of running COD4. So we hop on in the car and drive down to the "Armory" where there's 30 computers we can waste a few hours of the day on.

Sure the bill slowly grows, but in the mean time the memories are totally worth it. But heck no, Rukus thinks it's stupid and so I will wait many months until I can afford a PC; and then HOPE that my friends can get one too at the same time.

and yeah I have three jobs, it's freaking easy to get a job here.
I wish I could have a life where everything was handed to me.

Two weeks ago, we detailed the general design philosophy behind the gun play in Battlefield 3 together with Senior Designer Alan Kertz. Today, we are delving deeper into the thousands of weapon customization options you will have in the game.

Basically, each main weapon in the game has three accessory slots, where you can attach weapon accessories you have unlocked. Weapon accessory unlocks are received on a per weapon basis, meaning that the more time you spend with a particular weapon, the more options you will have to customize that weapon to fit different your combat role and play style.

A rifle in Battlefield 3 can be customized for wildly different combat roles. The carbine directly below has been equipped with a heavy barrel, bipod, and a 4X magnification combat scope. This would be ideal for a soldier who wants to engage targets at medium to long range and use suppressive fire to support his team mates.

In the picture above, the same carbine has instead been equipped with a suppressor, foregrip, and quick acquisition holographic scope. This setup would be well suited for Close Quarters Battle, especially indoors where stealth can be a vital factor.

The unlockable weapon accessories include an assortment of optics, suppressors, bipods, barrels, underslung grenade launchers, underslung shotguns, foregrips, flashlights, laser sights, and more.

While the class and model of your weapon will determine a number of basic values (like muzzle speed, energy, and fire rate), you can always modify it to tweak it towards anything from long range to close quarters combat.

So. Are you a long range sniper or a close quarters combat type of player? The neat thing is, in Battlefield 3, you can easily switch between both. With our powerful weapon customization features, there are no limits to the types of gameplay we support.

Why don't you just get a decent pc, i mean you must be able to save up something with three jobs.

50 weapons plus 3 different customization gadgets per weapon

And yeah I'm saving up but I have a lot of other needs to get first, and my next big purchase is a cheap car not a PC.

Yes.  The first one is Sprint Boost or some such.  Others are extra ammo, explosives armor, marksman.  And some for your entire squad.

Kind of nullifies the point of having them at all tbh.  And can you even suppress lmgs in RL?

Yeah you can, but it's kinda pointless as MG's are supposed to be tailored to more fire support.

Anything is possible. The guys on the discovery channel with the tv show called "Sons of Guns" suppressed a MK19. So why not? All i silencer is is just a tube to better filter the blast of the weapon so the gasses don't erupt out, instead it kinda flows out.

I wouldn't mind having a suppressed gun to eliminate the muzzle flash, esp in maps like metro.
Inside the metro i wasn't really able to see where i was shooting with iron sights coz of too much muzzle flash.

A question for those that have played the alpha....
Did anyone notice if any squad leader specific attributes were available.
Since there's no commander I was wondering if any of the commander functions had been allocated to the squad leaders specifically or if it was intended for all players to have the ability to use the old commander functions that were in BF2, if they are even going to be available?

Scan - not likely to be offerred I'd imagine, difficult to use when in combat. Could be a localised pulse type thermal scan that "spots" any enemy player within 100m with a caret similar to the Q spotting.

UAV - squad leader only or any player?
       - locked to a location or mobile and locked on a player?

Arty - not likely, but a squad leader controlled single precision airstrike or tomahawk missile able to be launched from the carrier or uncap every 5 minutes or so would be a nice touch

Supplies - how? give the option to drop a box to squad leaders every 5 minutes or so?

Vehicle drop - same with supplies I suppose

As well as the same time-based ability system (such as the commander assets timer in BF2) I'd like to see some sort of squad based performance reward system.
Once your squad has racked up a certain number of points in a round a number of offensive and defensive options become available to the squad leader.
These could be the "old" commander assets and only become available once your squad has done enough damage to "earn' them.
Some new options - single target precision airstrike or tomahawk missile / cluster munitions
                           - autofiring defensive MG turrets (similar to those in Brink if you've played it)
                           - decoys/holograms (similar to the hologram ability in Halo Reach)

Since they've clearly stated that there won't be an overall commander, they really need to beef up the squad leader role to set the leadership positions apart from the grunts.

Anyone know of anything along those lines that has already been decided by the dev's?

Gameplay is the key.
Not just the same old features with slightly better graphics/animations but at least a few entirely new gameplay features.
They clearly have the technology, I hope they have the imagination to go with it.

How they are going to balance 50 different weapons is beyond me. Less is more. Everyone's gonna use the same one or two anyway.
