I sure did.

Having multiple small portable UAVs and a flying UAV that the player can pilot is better than only having one UAV that only lasts ~30 seconds and takes a while to recharge. Even BC2 covered most commander capabilities. You had ammo crates from assault, "uav" balls from recon, flying uav with weapons, and arty from recon.

How is it better? Too many uav's means everyone is visible, which is bad.
Crates where mainly for repair, and mortar spam in BC2 was shit.

Oh, I don't remember using crates often for that, but it's a good idea. I usually was an engy if I wanted to drive a vehicle though, so repairs weren't an issue.

It takes team effort to get all UAVs up and running to reveal every player. If the capability is there, and the teamwork permits it, I think it's a good thing that emphasizes teamwork.

I only played BC2 a little while. I didn't think mortars were too big an issue.

because you only played it a little while

really the only time i called in a crate was when i needed repairs, as getting out to repair isn't always an (intelligent) option

when is the beta coming?

I hope you're not referring to BF2, because I've played it over 700 hours.

Well, I'd only get out to repair when it was safe, but I played with my clan mostly so I'd usually have engineers fixing me up anyways.

Heard it was in September

If you like the first sounds better than the modded sounds I donno what the heck is wrong with you.
they do sound better
because the original sounds were fucking terrible

the sounds in BF3 aren't terrible, so there's no point spending good dev time on 'improving' them.

If they had spent their time making them awesome from the start then they wouldn't waste good dev time improving them.

Anywho, I can't wait to see how OP my M16A4, foregrip and heavy barrel is going to be on this game.

You've gotta be fucking kidding me...
So all this time you were playing commander you would drop in crates to resupply infantry with ammo or something
The main of use for supply crates was when your tank/apc has come up against the enemy vehicles it can sit there with the crate repairing and win.

The position of commander added scale to BF2 that was important to the feel of the game. One of my favorite things about BF2 was the sense that there were forces more powerful than myself (i.e., the commander, jets, helicopters, etc.) at work and could make or break my day at any given time. Giving every player the ability to do everything just homogenizes the battlefield. Not every player should be given the opportunity to call in artillery or control a UAV in a given round. That sort of egalitarian bullshit belongs in the CoD series. Communists.

Well I'd give supply drops to whoever asked for one.

No, you're missing the point.

The time spent making the guns sound the way they do now could have been spent making them sound differently (like the sounds in that ArmA 2 mod).

Since the time has already been spent making them suck, I'd rather they keep them the way they are and continue with more pressing issues. But my point remains that the time could have been spent making better sounds.

The M4 sounds like a freaking pea-shooter.

Nothing is wrong with them, I just think they sound a little toy-ish.

Check out the video that I posted earlier and you'll see the difference I'm talking about. It's not a big deal, I'm just saying they could sound better.

The sounds are really good, did you even play the alpha or are you going off trailers/youtube vids, also don't you only have a laptop? Anything won't sound good off that, they sounded brill on my 5.1 speakers.

Yeah were they are turned down and over layed with music.
There was an interview somewhere with the sound designer explainnig how in depth they went into recording all the sounds including the guns, the vid spearhead posted shows them recording on army exercises etc. to get the sounds right the dynamics off the sound also changes depending upon the environment i.e. indoor/outdoor
