I have problem to get your point, do you imply that Coolidge did a good job or not? Was he more like Paul or Obama? I didnt know him but i read the link, looks like he was more like Paul on the foreign policy.  Did he increase the size of goverment?
Coolidge was the reason we had the great depression. He completely deregulated the economy, being an absolute believer in Laize-Faire. The kind of lack of government oversight that Coolidge brought and Paul wants is what causes the kind of "roller coaster" economy that we saw in the 1920s and are seeing know. With the regulation and safety nets that Obama is putting into place, you end up with an economy that is more stable, one where it might be harder to become a billionaire, but it's also allot harder to create an economy based on lies and money-on-paper like what causes both the great depression, and the current recession.

tl;dr, you and Ron Paul ought to learn history.
While Coolidge did plenty of damage, Harding is generally blamed more, but for basically the same reasons.
Hoover as well.

Hence the Hoovervilles.

Yea i live in Canada.. and productivity is at an all time low.. Socialism bring the worst out of people.. it promote lazyness.. Doesnt matter what you do with your life, the state will take care of you..  Doesnt matter if you work 80h a week, the state will take more than half of your money because they need it for welfare and free healthcare.  Doenst matter if you don't get educated, the worst that will happen is that you make 20K a year with no income tax and that is almost the same amount of money if you go to college and earn 45K a year.. you both end up with 20K in your pockets.

Work your ass off and get the same money that the guy who work 20h a week.

That is socialism for a population of 30 millions..

I afraid of what socialism would look like for a population of 300 millions and add to that a porous border and millions of illegals.

Maybe it will work out well for you, i cannot predict the future..  But socialism pisses me off up here sometimes.

Personnal responsability is gone.

Edit: One more thing, socialism cost a lot of money, i don't think that Socialism and interventionism works well together.. and since i don't see you guys stopping the interventionist foreign policy, i think it this is just the beginning of huge deficits.
I'm not a fan of interventionism either, but that's another discussion.

When it comes to Canada though, you do generally have a better quality of life than America.  You're much higher on the HDI than we are.

The main problem you guys have is oligopoly.  You pay a lot more for things like electronics not only because of sales taxes but because you have fewer suppliers.  Your markets are much smaller than ours, and distribution involves fewer companies, so they take advantage of that by jacking up prices.

So, I guess you could say socialism isn't your problem -- protectionism, more specifically, is.  Your markets are similar to some parts of Europe in that they are designed to keep out competition.  America has somewhat of this problem as well, but not to the same extent as Canada or Europe.

Yeah, Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover were a trifecta of failure.

Hmm ok u are like 12 or something?  I can't believe i'm replying to you.. but ok  you say that since the companies were asking for it, it is not a take over?  You need to realize that what the goverment take, the goverment rarely give back..  Those bailouts are just the tip of the iceberg. Just wait and see, your messiah Obama will do more miracle.

GG National Socialist member, you have failed once again.
GG Religious sect member, i'm done with you.. you are not worthy of my replies anymore.
And you have yet to realize most companies already bought the government in the first place, gg lobbies.

I live in Taiwan, it's pretty socialist, and nothing is wrong with it. It's not like the government trying to fuck people over by taking all their money. Every modern day benefits such as labour laws, GI bill of rights etc, all spawned coz of the evil socialist movement who just want to take away your money like the jews you hate so much.

Laize-faire fails and history proved it. Which would you rather have, companies fucking you over due to monopolies and conglomarates where governments have no power to control, or at least some sort of safety net, you go choose.

Lol and you accuse me of being religious? GG.
