Is Prague family friendly or is it the night life that makes it an awesome place?ghettoperson wrote:
Honestly, I'd miss out the UK. Personally, I find it a pretty boring place compared to the rest of Europe.
As Ted says, Prague is a fucking awesome place. Rome is also a great place to visit, it is touristy, but it's the kind of stuff you really have to see at least once in your life. Maybe just go to Italy? There's a lot to see there; visit Rome, Milan, Florence, Venice, Tuscany.
Bit of both really. Yeah, there's a lot of great bars, clubs and strip clubs, but there's plenty of museums and other stuff to look at. It's just a really cool city, with all the amazing architecture, very different to anything you'll find in the States.
Protip: There is purchase tax on everything in Europe. The govt will therefore be punishing you to pay for appeasement every time you open your wallet.
Fuck Israel
Sadly, the only place in Europe I've been (yet) is Rota, Spain. It was a very nice little town, and since there is a shared US/Spanish base, the residents were used to speaking English to Americans (my Spanish is almost non-existant, and my German is marginal).
Isn't there some kind of refund scheme for tourists?Dilbert_X wrote:

The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.

Cause thats your home countries legislation not sales tax in country of purchase.
Non-EU citizens can claim back VAT on most things they buy in the EU if you keep the recipts and fill out a form.DrunkFace wrote:

Rent a car though and half of what you pay in petrol goes straight to the jihadists via the tax system.
The other half also goes to the jihadists, that petrol probably came from the ME in the first place.
Stick with public transport - but watch out for unattended bags and unusually fat looking guys with tans and beards.

Go to Italy. Florence, Venice, Verona - lake Garda's very nice.
Tasty food, friendly people, beautiful scenery, beautiful architecture - and it's pretty much the renaissance capital of the world. Also there's cool Roman stuff, like the arena in Verona.

I enjoyed Belgium a lot.
Most European cities are absolutely excellent for museums and such though. London has some great ones.
Normandy is a bit of a must-see if you haven't been there already imo. Beautiful place with a lot to see from an historical perspective. The Bayeux Tapestry is pretty boring though.

Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
I went to Greece for a month in 2000. It was great depending what you like to see. If you are interested in Ancient HIstory theres not many better places to go. Might be worth going to one of the islands to get a combo of great scenery, ancient history and also middle ages stuff too (castles/crusades etc) . If you fly into Athens for a day or 2, then go to one of the island like Santorini or Rhodes, you are going to have a good time. It is a bit touristy but worth it if you know what you want to see before hand. People are laid back, ( probably a bit lazy) but dont hassle you too much. Seemed reasonably cheap in 2000, not sure what it is like now.
Good luck with it.
Heres a couple of photos of whats available.
