How does this always happen that people spend 2 decades in jail before people actually care about the case?

Null vote. I know next to nothing about this case. How could I vote on it even in a casual poll?

You can support the death penalty and still not support this particular case or support this case being delayed.

If he says he doesn't support the death penalty, I doubt he could support this case.

Clearly. But that takes the fun out of the discussion, doesn't it?

There are quite a few lawyers that work pro bono on death row cases in order to make sure the juries got it right the first time. There's just not enough of them to go around and sometimes it takes 20 years to get it right.

The prosecution can even appeal when the guilty are found guilty, but believe the sentence is too light.

That would be true.
I support the death penalty in cases with overwhelming evidence, but particularly when the defendant pleads guilty.
