Assuminh the usual boundaries like employment and language are non existent:
France, Greece or RussiaFrance for the cuisine, the people, the culture, the landscape, the history and just the common affinity I have with it.
Greece for the landscape, music, and food (though lesser than France), but primarily for the fact that the whole land (not country) breathes nostalgia in its purest form (will lead to chronic melancholia though).
Russia for the intense variety in everything, most of the Western stereotypes being complete and utter bull, the immense reaches of the landscape, the patriotism (which is very contagious), the people, music, the unique (perfect) blend of tradition and modernism, and being the next closest thing to Byzantium.
Italy or Éire seem nice too, but I've never been there (except on transit in Italy), so I won't put them on my list already. Iceland is nice when the (man made) apocalyps starts, more than enough sheep to feed the 320k or so inhabitants and free energy from natural heat sources. I also want to go to the Shetlands one day, but to live there,.. mwoah I think not. Ever since seeing a movie with "Sting" behind I also want to see Brazil, but I probably wouldn't like it much.
That said,
.Sup maybe you should also ask for a time or epoch?

where would it be and why
I always wanted to go and live in Australia. Love the diversity -beaches, deserts, animals, nice people as well.
One day I would ride the waves, the next I would play frisby with kenguroos, hunt Aussie virgins...
It is still an island
