watwazzat? remind me, when was the last time that russia actually threatened somebody with a nuclear attack?M.O.A.B wrote:

... where, it so happened, were a lot of russian citizens in danger of being wtfpwned, right? now, there's little doubt that those conflicts were politically engineered... mostly (and, btw, the west had it's hand in them too, no doubt about that as well), but still - russia didn't invade no country on the other side of the globe to *cough* spread democracy or *cough* liberate the oppressed. chechnia was a 100% internal affair ffs.M.O.A.B wrote:
And lets not forget that within the past ten years Russia has been involved in Chechnya as well as Georgia and Ossetia.

Action with nuclear weapons was threatened when the missile shield plans were being thrown around.Shahter wrote:

ah, that again. by the looks of your post i'd hazard a guess that you understand that "action with nuclear weapons" aka installing some short range BM's in response to missile shield being build is somewhat different to just outright threatening a nuclear attack, huh? nobody said "stop building that or we'll nuke you", russia simply wanted to reinstate the status quo by being able to overwhelm those abm sites should the need arise. now, before this argument gets bloody once more, i DO agree that it was politics mostly, but still, russia's move, while over-the-top, wasn't completely uncalled for.M.O.A.B wrote:

now, don't get me wrong - i don't like the looks of it anymore than you do. but, no matter if the west likes it or not, they are about to reap what they've sown.

If there is a war in the Arctic, I hope it stays there.

While I agree for the most part, I cant help but LOfuckingL at unspoilt wilderness....oh boo hoo 7 penguins shall perish. This will in turn cause all the seals to die, then the polar bears, and before you know it, there wont even be any abominable snowmen left! oh the horror! In soviet russia, we make global warming by nuking polar icecaps!(had to throw that in there)JahManRed wrote:
Whats really fucked up is that you have all these countries ranting on to their citizens about saving the world, carbon emissions, footprints etc and how we are all going to have to pay for it, while they are quietly arguing away in the background about who gets the right to deface one of the last relatively unspoilt wildernesses left on the planet.
As long as its NIMBY.imortal wrote:

Russia will be to the next World War what Nazi Germany was to the last, IMHO.
Space. Just dumb there. No morbo could possibly be mad when they find our junk hovering (with accelerating speed) towards them. And we can hope we have solutions if it happens so that we have to face our own space-junk in next 10000 years.Locoloki wrote:
Nuclear is good, effecient, "clean" energy. Just have to find a way to get rid of the radioactive waste (maybe plasma burning?)
Destination: The Sun. No muss, no fuss. Now, we just have to figure out how to get it up there without people bitching about rockets and dirty bombs (space elevator, anyone?).Ei Em wrote:

well, maybe scrap that pointless abm airborne laser and start working on laser propulsion?imortal wrote:

Got some awesome pics posing with them too.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
Russia suprised me with the ammount of modern equipement they apparently have available. Russia has some technology readily accesible, that is equally or even more advanced than what NATO has, they simply can't pay for it to be fielded. However there was quite some of it shown the 9th of may.FatherTed wrote:

Yes it is, but the country with most nuclear reactors available (though not percentage wise) is India.M.O.A.B wrote:

The Soviet Army under Stalin was as bad as the Wehrmacht under Hitler though.

With all the unmanned drones we are all making I wonder if this 'war' will be with them. I mean no enough for either power to launch Nuclear weapons...it would be the equivalent of two kings in the middle ages having their Champion Knights dueling for a 'bet'?
I meant as in they would start the next World War.Lai wrote:

Dont worry... us Canadians have this whole arctic oil thing under control.... Russia is scurred of us.
I dunno m8, the USA seems to have a real knack for starting wars.nickb64 wrote:

The Georgian conflict was about securing the oil pipeline, this would be no different. The US and UK didn't step in then, Scandinavia may be no different.
The US economy is a giant Ponzi scheme. And 'to big to fail' is code speak for 'niahnahniahniahnah 99 percenters'
