No, for justifying 'proportionate' use of force.

If the crowd is relatively placid they have nothing to do, its just a dull afternoon away from the pub.

If the crowd is throwing bottles then they can respond with water cannon, tear gas, baton charges etc and show us what big men they are, they need a bigger budget for extra toys and more overtime, can force through laws which allow them to detain people without charge, detain people who they think might commit a crime in future and generally do whatever they like because they are the Police and we are just civilians.

I'm sorry, but that's the most ridiculous notion I've seen in a while.

Ive seen the crowns forces do shit you wouldn't believe. In fact, I used to video them for a civil liberties organisation from the states, who used to send us over cameras and shit. I wouldn't put anything past them to be honest.
Allot of authoritarian fan boys in the cops these days i know cus I have a friend who is one of the top cops in NI and the stories she tells. She is completely bonkers too. First time I met her she was pouring vodka into her eyes dancing on a table. Cops are ppl and are as fallible as civvies. And like some civvies some of them love to crack heads.

Suggest you do a bit of research on the UK police, ACPO etc.
They are steadily becoming a quasi state within a state, politicising and seeking more powers and equipment, and a free hand to do whatever they like without fear of repercussions.

I've been at a perfectly peaceful demonstration and seen the police charge through waving their batons and trying to provoke trouble.

I'm also very familiar with the most serious corruption in multiple police forces at Chief Constable level

The G20 is a rare example of the Police being caught publically and with independent and undeniable evidence.
Its good to see it happen now and then, its much more common for them to get away with it.

PS Its a lot easier to stand back and let the Masons whack someone than it is to get a Chief Constable prosecuted.

I can't argue about the tendencies of the UK police, as I don't live there and have not experienced that. It still seems a bit unbelievable that they would do something like that in such a clunky way...they must know they would be busted. That's why it's so difficult to believe: if they know they have a reputation for that kind of shit, why would they do it again, under such scrutiny, in such an amateurish way?

However, with only allegations by this one MP, I would hardly say they have been "caught publicly and with independent and undeniable evidence".

Maybe if there is video that shows the MP's allegations, but not based simply on those allegations.

I wouldn't say it was a conspiracy. Most likely a few rouge cops acting on their own. Their might not be video evidence of such, but their is plenty of video and photographic evidence of officers with their ID numbers removed from their uniform, which is an offence. You have to ask yourself why would they do such a thing. It shows intent IMO.

It does seem unbelievable, they are generally not too smart which is why its clunky and amateurish.
Having got away with a lot off stuff over the years - grabbing a member of the public and shooting them seven times in the hed springs to mind -they know they will get away with it in the future, except they've been a bit caught out by all this video stuff - look forward to a law banning photography or video of a police officer.
Oh wait, we're there already.

I was referring to the other G20 stuff, where its on video, when I said "caught publicly and with independent and undeniable evidence".
Maybe there is a video, it'll be interesting to see if they deny it in the meantime. Otherwise Parliament does tend to take seriously the sworn eyewitness statement of a sitting MP.

Maybe, maybe not.
If a PC removes his ID pretty sure his Sergeant would see it, his Inspector would see it and any other PC would see it.
That nothing was done speaks for itself.
