If you are following this story. The latest is that the FBI and the Texas Rangers have been requested to investigate.
I've seen people here cruise 80-90 mph and weaving in and out of traffic and wanted to shoot them myself... but this is still tragic, I think all sides are gonna lose on this one.
By the sounds of it the guy might have had some mental illness, perhaps related to his service. Apparently he threatened to jump off the 138 foot harbor bridge. Perhaps this is a "death by cop" incident.

a few blocks from my old place a guy barricaded himself in his parent's house, waited til a bunch of cops showed up and then ran out towards them with a steak knife. they shot him to hell and back. suicide by cop. turned out he was a schizo. i guess it's pretty common.

Remember, cops get killed all the time for being too reserve and hesitating. They don't want to die. You run from them and they go into fight for survival mode because they know the person is desparate and will to do what it takes to no be caught. Cops are trained to deal with these situations... now I obviously don't know the entire story, but if he was on the phone to his dad he was probably just really scared, it sounded like he was getting on the ground, and the witnesses say he didn't have a knife, only one out of three cops felt threatened and this one happened to be a rookie. hmmm there may be a pattern emerging, sounds like the cop was alittle trigger happy tbh.
Also who knows what happened, it says he's a Iraq veteran, and might be troubled by this, so for all we know he saw the cops gun and freaked out.
Bottom line, he shouldn't have run but he certainly didn't deserve to die for it, He wasn't a criminal and this definitely isn't an example of Darwin at work.

Yes, LEOs are trained to deal with these situatons. The guy had just tried to escape, got out of the car with something in his hand (possibly a knife), and may have been acting aggressively. The fact that only one cop fired only indicates that one cop felt threatened and used his side arm. We don't know enough details to form a good conlcusion.Little BaBy JESUS wrote:
