Looking to do my CBT over the summer once I get a bit of money behind me, and I really, really, and I mean REALLY want one of these.
https://ducatimonster.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/aprilia-rs125.jpg

Now there must be a few of you out there that like biking, and I was wanting a bit of information about this particular bike if you can. I've read lots of reviews, and everyone seems to be saying that they're really good bikes. A couple of my mates are away to sit their CBT in the next few weeks, and are looking at this bike as well.

Any information would be great!

My missus has one.  She had a Yamaha YZF 125, but she traded it in for the Aprilia and she loves it.  I've taken 'em both out and both of 'em are great fun.  Out of the three popular 125 sportsters (the Yamaha, above Aprilia and the Honda CBR 125 that I've also had a spin on), the Aprilia was my fave.  So yeah, I'd say grab one!

The thing that you need to remember about an RS125 is that it is still only a 125cc - over 70mph you are going to be struggling. I was planning on getting the same bike but instead decided that I'll be getting a Kawasaki Ninja 250R. I don't know about England, but in N. Ireland it is restricted up to 250cc (33bhp) but you don't take the CBT.

My friend has an RS125, and it is a pretty nice bike. It's only 2stroke so every time you fill up you need to oil up too, but it does get around 40mpg. Very nimble and light but this has its downsides when it comes to the great English weather that is rain. If I were you I'd take a course in basic repair as well. There are known reliability issues with them, it is a race bike after all!

My dad has a Ducati and a Motoguzzi, sick sick bikes. 1100cc I think? Not sure, I don't know much about them. They produce a sexy roar, that's all I'm certain of.

125? Why the hell would you go with such a small bike?

We're only limited to 125 until 16 here in the States.

Here's what I rode until I turned 16:

I'd say ride a beater for two years then buy a real bike at 21.

Lucky fucker, <3 Motoguzzi's. And Ducati's for that matter.

125cc is fine for a dirt bike, otherwise it's crap. Just get a proper bike that's been restricted.

What's the point in haveing big heavy bike with restricted horsepower, when I can have light nimble bike with 33hp?

Because it won't sound like a lawnmower, and when you get your full licence you can de-restrict it and save yourself buying a new bike.

Yeah, a lot of people say that, but they also say it's really worth it, as it's such a good bike.

Ive wanted one for years, but kyles sort of changed my ideas.

Regardless if you want a 125 with a bit of character, you cant beat the Aprilia. Hard work though.

I tell you, 125 will be too small in less than a month. So just wait when you are able to buy a bigger bike and you wont waste your money.

You can't. You are restricted for 2 years.

yup. nothing exceeding 125 unrestricted or 33bhp restricted until 21.

it's a matter of saftey, the roads in the UK are insane for biking compared to say, America. It would be so so so easy to go round one slightly too fast and come off, even if you were being responsible.

125's like these are tonnes of fun to ride, why would you get tired of one after a month?  Seriously, they're a blast to ride.  It may not be "macho" to have one, but who gives a fuck?  They look great and they're nice and cheap to run too.  The RS125 is the pick of the bunch too.

RS125 is eeeeaaasily the prettiest 125.

And yup, if you live in a city or do a short commute a 125 is gonna be perfect -light and nippy, easy on fuel and cheap as anything to insure. Anything with prolonged speed might be an issue though, motorways for example.

The Cagiva Mito comes a close second looks wise, the other little Italian sportster.  Valentino Rossi's first bike too!
