Looks like there are 8 suspected cases here in South Texas where I live, and I'm pretty sure the flu has been around here since February. Its just that they are now testing for it and finding it.
I've had more bugs and been on antibiotics more since the beginning of this year than in the previous three years and I'm still hacking up globs. All last week I couldn't get off the couch, all I did was sleep, with a fever, sore throat, congestion and then sinus/respritory infection. But I'm still alive, its just a bad bug.
I bet if I went back to the docotr now he would test me for the swine flu.

Let's not have anyone bring up why there were so many doses of flu medicine on hand.Kmarion wrote:

We've been lucky that this paticular H1N1 strain doesn't have resistance to our main antivirals.Kmarion wrote:

Modern Medicine wins again.
But I still think we REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY need to pour money in to developing new antivirals and new anti-biotics. Because if we get an H1N1 strain which (like this one and the 1918 one) produces a cytokine storm, is as virulent as normal AND is resistant, then we're in deep.

For the Record: If I had the swine-flu, I just infected Pittsburgh and Cincinnati yesterday.

Honestly it's what we get for allowing the cheap labor, it's just deserts. We allow these people over who cheat our system and guess what they bring bad illnesses. The cases of parasites have gone up, cause we let disgusting people handle our food. Murder and insurance cases have skyrocketed and they really add nothing to our economy.
Good friend of mine, his best employee is now down for three days running with bad flu. I have a snotty nose. When I sneeze I say " oh shit. "
Latest says that there were two deaths in Los Angeles that may have been caused by the Swine Flu
And this is hasn't made the news, but family friends in Canada lost a son when he fell ill got pnuemonia and died. He died in Vancouver. Some of my family attended his funeral was last week. He was only 30 years old. Its possible that it was swine flu. He died before the swine flu was front page news.
Personally I think this flu bug as been around for a little while.
