Scientists have reprogrammed mature skin cells into an embryonic-like state by using proteins instead of genes, a key advance aimed at overcoming safety concerns in one of the hottest areas of biological research.

The stem-cell field has long aimed to harness the master cells of a human embryo, which can be turned into heart, nerve and other types of tissue. The long-term hope is that such tissue could be used to test novel drugs, or be transplanted into patients to treat diseases. But because the cell extraction destroys the embryo, the technique has ignited much ethical controversy.

I wonder how long until you can "make yourself like new"?  An ethical question for sure.

Drawback Cancer.

So if cancer is beaten and technically you can rejuvenate...should you?  And for laughs, she's sixty with a body of a 18 year old...

Someone with 60 years of experience in the field, who looks like an 18 year old...Come on!

And yeah, things like this are pretty amazing. Its only a matter of time before a major breakthrough is made with things like this. I'd like to be alive to see it, better yet, be saved by it. Just hope it don't turn out like I Am Legend

Stem cell research is wonderful. That's one good thing Obama's changed.

Amazing and terrifying at the same time

I'd certainly like to live for centuries, but doing so would cause extreme overpopulation in short order

I'd like to stay at about 25. Providing it restores my liver back to perfectly healthy status. And my joints.

Only thing he changed was providing more Federal funding for embryotic stem cell research. Adult stem cell research is where it's at. Leaps and bounds the last few years no matter what Oprah and MJF say.

has anyone seriously thought about the consequences? the population will skyrocket and resources will be fought over like no tomorrow..... in any case i think it will turn out something like end war... otherwise we would just deplete our entire foodsupply or possibly even kill it out since we are on the top trophic level in the food web. we will have such a great need for energy that humans will be able to consume so much that will not be enough producers at the bottom of the food web to support the organisms that we do eat

I'm pretty sure South Park explained what will happen if we use Stem Cells.

On a serious note, while the possibilities for Stem Cells seem great, in the end it will only bring the downfall of man. Just live life naturally. If you are going to die, then die.

What about "respecting your elders"?

Like you are 200 years old and your parents are 230?  "I know more than you...."

Citizens of City 17, I am speaking today to address some concerns that have been voiced about the policies of our benefactors...

I'd rather be made of metal and computers/motors.  Check out my biomechanical left arm...original human tissue wrapped around a metal endoskeleton ftw!
