Kinda. Still looks like division 1 hockey IMO. A 3-1 lead against Denmark isn't really sending a message to the other leading nations.

They'll have plenty of time to remedy that in the third period. Or fuck it up.

Kipper won't come. All 3 goalies for the tournament are decided. I'm not sure if I want Jokinen either this time. He was quite in the dark for a long period. But then again I'd take Tuomo Ruutu, Joni Pitkänen and Jussi Jokinen from the 'Canes gladly. Shit, I'd like the Rangers to go far this season. But if they do so, there's a couple of nasty Russians coming this way tomorrow Lose-lose.

The Canes are still playing...and rumor has it that Ruutu is nursing an injury, so I doubt he'll come play for his country.

As for the Capitals losing...I'd almost guarantee you that if they DO lose, Ovechkin and Semin will come play for Russia...and they won't be happy about not playing for the Cup.

Swedish Tobias Enström (who was checked by Latvian Martins Karsums) is not playing for the rest of the tournament. He's going to be operated in Switzerland after getting boarded yesterday resulting in a concussion and 10 bone fractures in the cheekbones, jaw and nose. He's not doing good at all for the moment, let's hope he'll be alright.

I know, right? The refs haven't been particularly fair. Enström was holding the puck though. He was just so low that his face hit the rail. I'm surprised no one started a fight. Maybe there weren't enough NHL-players on the ice? I'm sure the Finns would've handed out a punch or two.

I'm just waiting for the twat behind the Swedish bench to start crying bloody murder again and yelling "Send the shit home!". Like last time when Ruutu gave a perfectly clean hit to Jagr. Not his fault Jaromir uses a freekin egg shell for head cover. Come to think of it, I saw Bengt-Åke Gustafsson at Arlanda airport in january when I was on my way to N.Y. Should've said hello from Jarkko Ruutu

About that hit. Watched it a few times now. Sure it was from behind. But Enström was way too low near the boards when he knew someone was after him at that speed. He should've known better. I say both are to blame.

It doesn't matter.  I don't care if Enstrom turned and started kissing the glass.  If you're going in for a check and the guy you're about to hit turns toward the boards, you HAVE to let up.

Hell, even just out of respect for your fellow player.

He clearly doesn't have enough time there to react to that quick stop that's so far from the boards. Both are going for the puck and the first guy decides to break early and not take a possible hit that he surely knows is coming from some direction. I've been in a similar position being the guy that is going in the penalty box for a two min breathe. There's not much you can do if the guy in front decides to stop instead of continuing with the puck. Only hope that this doesn't happen. One does not turn his back away at that distance from the boards. This is taught to kids for christ sake. Now that I'm reviewing that hit more I'm even more convinced it was his own fault. Imo he sohuld've taken a clean hit standing straight up and he'd be fine right now.

Bummer for Denmark They were playing pretty decent hockey already. 1h10min until The best game of the tournament so far starts.
