I didn't dispute any of that. I'm wondering why the fuck the Belfast Telegraph or w/e it's called gives a shit.
He gave his reason in point B, "The timing is extremely suspect considering it's policy making time (the article wraps up with "Farmers should be taken into consideration when planning policies"- Kmarion

They're using an international incident to push a point in their own country, and that point is "don't do it or we'll kill ourselves."

Not sure if Kmarion is right, but the evidence is there.
The election is in India, not the UK.

Besides the UK's farmers already get massive subsidies. I have a great uncle over there who still farms because the subsidies make it a decent pass-time on what little of his land he has left.

The UK govt rents 3/4ths of it for a quarry and public road. He makes a bloody killing on the rent.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

If 1500 farmers committed mass suicide it would be on the Drudge report.
It is not, therefor it didn't happen.

Hmm, the Huffington post has it. But the author of that article got it from the Independent (and Alternet) , which got it from.......Belfast telegraph. Haha....I don't really get what's going on tbh

1,500 farmers committing suicide is believable for that country, but not in the way of mass suicide/cult suicide in the form of a "demonstration". More like it probably happened over a reasonable time period due to the issues raised in that Belfast telegraph article (money/loan sharks/climate etc..)

Kmarion doesn't know whats right. .. but I do take issue with the fact that people are telling him that we don't care because of piss poor reporting. ffs give me something, anything.. I will continue to watch this, but I'm not a self centered asshole because the author did a half ass job.

Stizzle I think someone in the comments page wrote, the headline "Suicide rates are on the rise in India" would not have had the same attention grabbing effect. I am getting really fed up with the state of journalism today. It's extremely hard to find an outlet that sticks to reporting the news accurately and with the traditional criteria they used to use for validating a source. These guys were taught that in year one.

Brace yourself... BBC. But I think the key is to use varying sources. That's what set off the alarms in this thread. There aren't any.
