I ranted about micromanaging the last time I played? That sounds probably true.

I can see the other games in fact being more complex but streamlining the features.

Do you think the game is better by having a dozen different resources to manage?

The resource management is worse than Victoria 2 which had both more resources to manage and was mostly about managing the resources.

That's what I have been doing. Moving resources around the market. There are too many resources though. The stuff minerals used to do instead being moved to alloys was dumb. They should revert all of that back to alloys and use alloys as a stand in for the half dozen "rare resources."

Games have changed for the worse. Copy protection does a better job of punishing legit buyers than pirates (who won't have to deal with the rootkit). Phone-home spyware in the name of that, or dubiously anti-cheat/mod/hack protection, always online even in a single-player game. Digital licenses are unexciting. DLC in bulk is more expensive, more frequent, and offers less than expansion packs. FOMA is exhausting. Time isn't respected. Loot box and gambling models hope for whales and devalue the rest of the game. Game lost forever by server shutdowns, with attempts at reverse engineering legally threatened and shut down. "Don't you all have smartphones?"

What do we get in exchange, now that it's 2023? Ray tracing.

It might be. I was a c u n ... when pc gaming peaked in 2005... basically a child in a mans body.

Now I am older and maturer, pc gaming is pretty much dead, the latest battlefield travesty correctly matches the state of the world we live in.

I just reminisce on nostalgic times and wish I was who am now...then

Also not had any friends IRL since 2012, and actively discourage making any... just doesn't feel natural.

Think I died in 2012 honestly, when the mayans predicted it... I don't even feel alive anymore.

Everyone here - which is both of you - will tell you its stupid, but I occasionally enjoy playing BF2 64 player bot maps
A current PC will run 64 bots no problem, the graphics are much better and the nostalgia is high.
Can't remember how I got it running on Win10, or the 64 bot hack but work it all does.
