It's not possible for us, the community, to have more than 64 people on a server, but what's to stop EA from changing it?

The loss in money and time invested into something that only a few people want. It doesn't fix anything, nor add to the game play, it's a new element that isn't necessary and isn't worth wasting on a game that's nearly four years old.
