Stay away from Curry Village and Happy Isles.

Don't miss Bridalveil Falls.

The food at the Awannhee is first class, and try the house merlot.  They have a magical formula for prime rib that is sooooo good.

Renting innertubes and floating down the Merced is made of win.

And when you look up at El Capitan, send her my regards, and let her know we shall meet again someday.

Stop in El Cap meadow, there are usually people binoculors and you can view the climbers. I went straight up the middle, near The Nose. It's only a ten minute walk from the meadow to The Big Stone.

Touch it, you can feel it's power.

Well if the weather is nice and if it's open you should do the raft thing down the center of the valley. You rent this inflatable raft and spend a few hours drifting down the center of the valley (gorgeous) on a small river. It's great because you can go as fast or as slow as you like and you can get out to eat lunch along the shore whenever/wherever you see fit.

I'm not sure how much you'll be able to fit in but you should also make the short hikes back into the waterfalls (they're a little ways off the main road). Half Dome is a little bit more of a walk but still just as cool. Unfortunately I never got to hike to El Capitan although I'm sure that's worth it as well.

Have fun man, Yosemite Valley is up there with some of the coolest places I've ever been.
Can the raft thing accomodate 2 pre-teen boys, or is it mainly for a more mature crowd? Great info thank you.
Yeah that should be fine, it's a private raft so no worries about disturbing others. One raft comfortable fit my family of four and our coolers.

Enjoy it for me, I'm jealous.

nothing blows off steam like wandering down into the redwoods or cruising up to crater lake.

If Yosemite explodes we'll blame it on the muslims.
Shouldn't have given them prior warning TBH.

Is it true that you are not allowed to film in yosemite?
http://www.lesstroudonline.com/blog/?p=30

No one’s allowed to film in parks here so I couldn’t get into the beautiful Yosemite, but I’m on its doorstep in equally beautiful cedar and pine woods, about a quarter mile from Willow Creek. There’s a fantastic view of the falls here called ‘Devil’s Slide.

Ok, we are finally home,

I thought I would never see anything quite as beautiful as the Alps, well, I gotta add Yosemite as just as beautiful. It was amazing! It was too cold to do any water activites and the roads were closed to Mariposa Grove, so we walked it. The Giant Sequoias were unbelievable.

We went into the valley twice. Once on our own and it was a clear beautiful spring day. The next was during and after a snow storm on a tour bus, and it was a whole different scenic experience.

Yosemitie is added to the list as one of the most unforgetable places I have been. Tied for first with the Germany's and Austria's Alps.

I appreciate all of the advice it was very helpful. Thanks

I guess I would still have to put the Alps as first, after further consideration. We did not want to leave Europe. After 4 days in California we were ready to come home.

I forgot to mention on our last day we had time to kill so we went to Venice Beach. What a collection of freak shows that was. Anyway, we people watched most of the afternoon and headed for the airport. Northern Califorinia really should be a seporate state from southern California. They are 2 different worlds.

haha, everyone across the US seems to have the same opinion about Californee, despite the fact that it's one of the powerhouses of the US economy

In what way is it so fucked up/freaky?

Do some youtubing on venice beach. From a conservative guy like me, words fail.

Only thing I can say is we saw some pretty good talent there, but mainly it was full of people that needed to lay off the drugs and go find a fuckin job.
