Strawberry festivals, FUCK YEAH!

Oh wow.. look someone in DAST just gave their opinion on something they've never experienced. Imagine that. If you don't like strawberry shortcake you can just gtfo right now..lol
Actually i do know what you're talking about, i worked for 3 years at a Garden Centre, and up at their Fruit Farm.

It was suuuucccch a hard job having to put together punnets of strawberries, many unfortunately ended up in my mouth.
I live just a few minutes from Plant City.. (that's right fuckin plant city), it supplies 3/4 of the strawberries during the winter time in the states. They used to let you go out and pick all you wanted for a flat fee (like $12). Now they charge $4 a flat. Bastards .. it is still a fun time at the festival. I get to get out of my everyday funk and play like I'm living off of the land and shiz..lol. Rides tend to make me vomit though. /yack

Sounds fun tbh. I grow my own tomatoes.. I bet it wild make an interesting hybrid.. spaghetti night would be a great success *thumbs up. We are still very much an agricultural society where I live. Shiz, I went to the strawberry festival last week and it was pimp.
I went to a strawberry festival up in Northern Cali a few years ago.  Interesting to say the least.  Every food you could possibly imagine, mixed with strawberries.  Growing pot is kind of like growing some garden vegetables - it takes some care and effort to make sure you get quality results.  Pot is definitely something you cannot just plant and forget about for a few months then come back and pick.

Most people grow their own to sell, not to smoke.  If and when it becomes legal it will be interesting to see how the government will regulate the suppliers.

I have a descent sized yard and great climate. Dorito sales in suburban America would sky rocket. Maybe they can start a junk food tax.
Yeah, I assume the weather in Florida would be great for growing without any extra equipment. Might not be such a good example for the kids though.
Shit, I used to be worried about armadillos diggin my stuff up. I'd have to install razor wire to keep the teenies away .

I tend to my veggies everyday. If you want quality in veggies you have to monitor them closely also. Not a big deal. It's almost like a competition with my neighbors. Again, I bet it would be fun.

I stil think it would be an out of the garage operation. Like I said before, like selling fish on the side of the road.. only better .

So...people want to legalize pot.  fine.  but, here is a question.  if pot were set at whatever price, and then the govt kept increasing the tax on it...would you continue to but it legally?  or buy it underground?  the reason i ask is because booze and tobacco have seen many increases, yet there is no real underground for it.  (moonshine yes but that is not a nationwide market.)
Well, for what it's worth, making alcohol is more complicated than growing pot, and tobacco is a more finicky plant than hemp.

My guess is that the government realizes these 2 things, and therefore, they won't raise taxes on pot as quickly or as much on it as they have cigarrettes or alcohol.

Granted, if they do, well...  there probably would be an illegal market again, and yeah, I'd buy it if the quality was right.

Speaking of which...  Quality is another factor.  It's doubtful that the quality of illegal pot would be as good as the legal stuff if a corporate market was established for it.  This is similar to the difference in quality between something like Johnny Walker and moonshine.  People pay good money for good booze.  Moonshine has a more limited market than namebrand booze because moonshine is lower quality usually and it also can be dangerous to consume.

I think you people are severely overestimating potheads. I have a fucking job. When I get home from work, I enjoy sparking up a bowl. Not laboring over some stupid plant for however fucking long it takes to grow. I wanna smoke it, not grow it dammit. If 7-11 sold the same shit my guy has, at the same price, id be there everyday. EVERYDAY. I loathe low grade shit. I gladly fork over my hard earned cash for top notch weed. For what I spend on weed in a week, that same money would only carry me for only a few hours in a bar.

I believe the answer to your tobacco queries and home growing has to do with the fact that you can grow pot anywhere. I dont think tobacco is as flexible.

Id say green light on the whole personal use growing though. Impose tax shit on anyone who tries to sell, and just have ludicrous punishments for selling without a license. Personally, Id rather buy from a shop, knowing what good shit im getting (too lazy to grow, remember?), instead of buying from some bum on a corner wearing some ill-fitting tshirt and "shorts" that skirt with the tops of his shoes.

Ireland is supposedly suffering from an increasing underground tobacco market as cigarette prices have gone through the roof here in the last few years. It's a difficult situation to predict, the tax that would be generated from such a move would be incredibly helpful in the current climate but do you really want your city turned into Amsterdam? ...having said that I noticed that it's mostly tourists you see smoking in the cafes of Amsterdam, in other words it's not necessarily turned the country into a bunch of hopeless potheads, in fact in many ways it has had the opposite effect.
