I miss that game, but they sure screwed it up w/ the expansion. The best thing about it was the control pionts. Someone should make a mod for BF2 with that style of play. Any thoughts
I remember that, even crap would say its crap.
It was a good game , but then the expansion destroyed it leaving it a bit cartoonish. The control piont Idea was phenominal however. It was way more strategic and team oriented in that aspect, which would make BF2 even that much better. It also sucked in close quarters combat, but damn sniping was freaking great cause you had to dial in your target with binaculars, and adjust your scope.
Well the biggest thing i thought was crap besides everything were how anything was shot it was really bad it didnt give you that fun feeling of shooting a weapon like in Battlefield it felt fake and the bullets ejecting felt fake too like i was shooting weapons made out of playdoe and plastic and the sounds were bade and everything looked blurry.
I just played the demo when it came out.

i think it was crap. graphics especially, gameplay wasnt horrible but it lagged for no reason. it was just overall very shitty. unless you wanted to rush into an unrealisitic, quick battle.
The demo was sad, but the patched retail was alot better.
Yeah the good servers" were haed to find, but when it did not lag it became fun. I gave up on it eventually because it laagggggggeeeeed to much, even on a good connection.
I think we get the point Silent haha.
OK best ever multiplayer FPS game.....
Battlemech on AOL... Damn fun, but then they wanted 2.99 an hour to play it so I said FU aol, and got COX digital.

Used to play it all the time. Mostly at lan parties. Still go back every once and a while.
Battlemec or Joint ops?Badcow68 wrote:

I wanted to play Joint Ops but never got a chance to. Didn't it have like 180 player servers for free or something like that. And didn't the same people that make this game make those crappy "Delta Force" games that were uber easy and boring.
Yes they had huge maps tons of vehicles and many players. I think up to 164.
They made BlackHawk down, wtf was there name?

I think there name was Novalogic. A friend of mine gave me BlackHawk down game, I would have beat it in a day if I didn't have to go to work. Super easy game, I wasn't expecting much out of it in the first place but still crappy.
I happened to play that game... it had it pro's and cons...
Pros:
the graphic looked nice but was not that demanding
Maps where a lot larger
You could actually walk through a jungle without being concerned of being blocked by some puny bamboo plants
You could swim underwater and use you knife there.
Greater variety of Weapons for each class
Portable Stingers that where even able to hit something
Great Sniper routine (ok... one shot one kill weapons but you had to adjust the range)
Cons:
Novaworld did not fix bugs, which where present from day one but instead added new bugs
Novaworld did add features nobody wanted or features that ruined the game balance (i.e. Killcam that showed you exactly, who killed you and where that person was located).
Actually, I used to be a betatester on Joint Operations until they stopped all further patch development. Now the game is basically ruined with the latest patches. The game had great potential but it failed in the end.
One thing I liked about JO was the concept of Advance and Secure. You had to conquer a specific waypoint first in order to be able to conquer the next one. It could also be scripted, that several waypoints in no specific order had to be captured to be able to advance to the last one. That for example would be applicable for BF2: Before being able to capture the enemy base with the assets, one team must first control the other points. This would actually enforce more teamwork and would make battles less chaotic. But I guess, we won't see this either.

I used to play the demo on my old computer, so it lagged alot. But i do remember the beautiful water and the huge servers.
I havent played this game yet ....but i have heard bout this that its not a verygood game to play........but i dont know exactly about this game!!!!!!!!!
It is a very nice game! The sniper rifle was way more realistic, if you stand at shooting, you could hit shit and you also had to adjust the distance for every 100m. What I also liked about JO, was that you could swim underwater and have knife fights there.hatoonamathatha wrote:

In which servers did you guys played the most? I played a lot in Thunder and Rice Paper, and always the Advance and Secure mode, sometimes also in Donnerskrieg but that was a bit too much chaos.
C'mon you guys, Black Hawk Down and Joint Operations were awesome muliplayer games.
Sure, the AI in single player games was mind numbing but they were intended to be mulitplayer first. NOVALOGIC didn't ever manage to create good AI.
Granted, the custom maps that were made in the time of the BHD demo weren't exactly realistic but they didn't have much to work with, ie only the objects from the demo map could be used, hence the large towers made from large containers. But Sniping from "DRAGON's TOWERS" was some of the best gameplay ever. The retail maps were pretty good.
Some things I find superior in these games over BF2
1. Swimming: underwater knife battles were the dogs bollox. Trying to judge how far to chuck a grenade in the air from the surface so it landed in the water near your enemy and sank to right depth before exploding was cooooool.
2. Taunts and cheering emotes were funny as, kill a guy then go some do like "American football" type celebration on his ass, toppa.
3. 150 player servers in Joint Ops with staggeringly big maps, although nowhere near as detailed as BF2 but I also put that down to how long ago it was made. Thinking about BF2 maps are pretty big when you're in a jet, but the border thing stops infantry exploring.
4. The ability to change kit while you were alive at Ammunition points, back of trucks, crates at spawn points.
5. Javelin Anti Tank missiles in JO, one shot one kill, but a minimun distance was required for the missle to reach altitude to come down on that tanks ass. And you could still get out while the tank was in "burning state" a-la- BF2.
6. The fact that a tank could climb a hill at more than 20degrees was a bit more realistic, although they did go a bit too far, could get up mountains with those M1's... lol
7. Being able to lob a grenade when on a ladder just to make sure the sniper at the top of the building you're after hasn't left a claymore for you.
8. Sniping, getting a headshot at 1800m and taking the guy whos running out with one shot, and feeling damn proud of yourself when you did it. but yes, lots more snipers in that game.
9. I'll finish with this one. Maps were created using the predifined structures and vehicles meaning you download a small info file where everything is. This meant you downloaded the map from the server and hence many more custom maps were played as you didn't have go find and download it first.
Although I have suggested many ways which I liked BHD/JO better than BF2, it is the latter that still rocks my world, being in full control of vehicles, especially choppers is the best. I do think that many of the good ideas from Novalogic could easliy be incorporated into BF2, I WANT TO DUCK UNDERWATER so i can actually get to the friggin island on wake
Just my 2p

JO is the best game i ever played, the way overpowered M240 is a shame but its still a great game.
I enjoyed Joint Ops. It was a nice game and I liked the graphics...
I especially liked the fact that you could actually blend in with your surroundings.. in BF2 the player tends to stick out like sore thumb most of the time.
About the only things I didn't like were the chopper controls and physics...which I suppose was done so that anybody could fly a chopper...but, mainly the sound. Regardless of what weapon the enemy or your team mates were using they all had the same ROF to them. I can only suppose this was a way to limit bandwidth but it was annoying to no end and is the main reason I stopped playing the game. I just couldn't get over the fact that all of the other weapons sounded at the same ROF.
