It's generally a different customer. I might go to walmart to get some Mac and Cheese. Doesn't mean I'm getting my threads and shoes there though. However if there a store conveniently located next to one I sure as fuck will go in and browse/buy.

it was not aimed at your response.  but you are dead on.  look at shopping centers without a wal-mart compared to those with.  cant even compare.

I'm not saying all their customers are poor, or they only serve poor people, but they are set up, rather uniquely, as a one-stop-bargain-shop.  They had and will always have the people who can't afford to drive around town and really appreciate the climate control during summer and winter.  Maybe I see more of it because my county has 16.4% unemployment?

So true, the only things I have ever purchased of the clothing variety @ Walmart were jeans, underwear, and a Dickies jacket(and a crappy sweatshirt for a mission trip to Indian Res. in AZ. I don't want or need the other clothes they sell. All my other clothes shopping is from either Army Navy Store @ the plaza/traffic circle, BSA store, Costco, or Big 5 Sporting Goods. These have superior products, and I can use Army/Navy products for camping/paintball/school/etc.(Pretty much everything)

Every see that documentary called "The high cost of low prices"? It goes into the wheelings and dealings of Wal-Mart and does not paint a flattering picture of the company. Have no idea how much of it is true or bullshit, but if half of it is true you will be left with the feeling that yo never will shop at Wal-Mart again. Then ya need something and Wal-Mart is easy and convenient and cheap so you go back.

I am kind of on the fence... I wish we could have the small town stores like when i was a kid.... but people want everything super super cheap...
and the market dictatesn what we get... There are still some stores that have survived but not many....  People arent going to spend extra money for the same thing at a mom and pop place when they can go to Whoremart and get it cheaper...

And what's wrong with giving poor folks cheaper prices so they can live more comfortably... Isn't that liberal thinking....lol
