Possible house arrest as a sentence?
Either he'll get a plush prison apartment for a few years or he'll 'die' and go live in Switzerland with Ken Lay .

Anyone who STILL has any doubts about Madoff should read this.
Many of Madoff's victims were not multimillionaires but normal working people, said Mark Raymond, of law firm Broad and Cassel.

One alleged victim was a New York plumber who earned up to $60,000 a year, he said.
Mr Madoff had invited the plumber to join his investment scheme because he saved his son's life.
"His son and Mr Madoff's son were swimming off Long Island and he [the plumber] saved him from drowning," Mr Raymond said.
"The reward was being invited to participate [ in the Madoff scheme]."
The plumber had now lost his life savings of $100,000.

I think it was an awesome scheme and in a way i kinda hope he gets some kinda bail and uses his connections to 'disapear'

Then of coarse it would be nice if he then anonymously sent a good hunk of money to those he screwed, while keeping enough to live low-key for the rest of his remaining decade

So you make a big deal out of Obama and bailouts, but when a billionaire ruins the lives of millions of people, you want him to escape judgment.

I think I see which side you're on now.

Well according to the BBC. The guy's just been sentenced to 150 years. lulz

Bernard Madoff has been given a prison sentence of 150 years for masterminding a massive fraud that robbed investors of $65bn (£40bn).

US District Judge Denny Chin sentenced Madoff on 11 charges, including securities fraud and money laundering.

Madoff's lawyer had sought a more lenient sentence of 12 years.

The maximum sentence came after the court heard emotional statements from a number of his victims about the fraud's impact on their lives.

Judge Chin called the fraud "staggering" and said "the breach of trust was massive".

Madoff stood with his hands in front of him while being sentenced and the jail term was met with cheers and applause from the courtroom.

I guess this case was too high profile for him to be able to buy himself out of it. The US Justice system isn't so corrupt after all...

150 years sounds a little cruel and unusual to me. Just make him pay back the people he screwed.
