Or one of them just gets shot
and?
BTW, when the victim pulls his gun, he doesn't point it and use it to bargain. He fires immediately without hesitation. You don't pull a gun and point it at someone who is threatening your life. You pull your gun and shoot to kill. The gun gives both the criminal and victim the same power (equal).
The main problem with that is the criminal already has his gun pointed at you. If you reach for your gun, he's going to shoot you first.
Yep that's the problem and you have to make a judgment call.
- What is behind the threat? What are your shots going to hit?
- Is he focusing his attention on you 100% or is he looking around for police, witnesses, etc.?
- Is his gun pointing right at you, or just in your general direction?
- How fast is your draw?
- How accurate is your shot placement?
- Can you move in a direction that his shot may miss you?
- Can you hit his arm or gun with one hand, while drawing with your other, and avoid getting hit?
- Is his gun real, is it loaded, is it cocked, is the safety on? This is where knowing about various firearms can be an advantage.
Its a big gamble, may or may not be worth it. Unarmed victims get shot and killed all the time. Carrying a gun gives you the option to shoot, you don't have to take that option, but at least you have it.
