Selecting Palin was not something that appealed to moderates.

Besides, the only reason Bush won re-election in 2004 was because Kerry was just that weak of a candidate.  The fact that Obama was halfway competent as a candidate was enough to beat McCain in an environment where Bush had so thoroughly destroyed Republican credibility.

So no...  your party didn't lose from trying to appeal to moderates.  You lost because Bush did that much damage to your party's reputation (and the economy for that matter).

The media destroyed Bush's credibility just the same as they pumped Obama as a god like candidate.  And for the record Carters 'affordable housing' by the Dems was the big bubble that burst in the economy during Bush's reign.
