Windows 7 Starter Won't Even Let you Change Desktop WallpaperAccording to a recent Windows Team Blog Post, the ability to change desktop wallpaper will not be available in the Windows 7 Starter version. On the bright side, however, the original plan was to have a maximum of up to three simultaneous applications running at the same time (excluding background processes). This limitation has been lifted, allowing users to run as many applications as they like.
Seriously, what is the point? I can understand what they did with Vista, with the simple packages they left out expensive technological stuff, like M$ Office, and shit like that. I can understand that.
But what they're doing with 7 is making an OS, and for the simple packages, they're making it worse on purpose.
That really pisses me off.

Think about this way:
If you were going to buy a car for example, would you expect to get air conditioning on the cheapest model?
MS is thinking it as business. More features -> more price.
That would be ok if there was another similar alternative, but MS has monopoly-like market and is just robbing ppl by taking off features that were present in win95.

lol but air conditioning is like standard nowadays. Not be able to change wallpaper? wat Can't remember if I ever used an OS that didn't have the option to change the wallpaper. I don't think Microsoft left this out to cut the price, its gotta be something elseGC_PaNzerFIN wrote:

Like said, business.
Oh and air conditioning definately isn't standard on the cheapest cars

Panzer, it's like they're making 100 cars all the same, then for the cheaper ones, they're cutting bits off.
They're making the OS, and then to make it cheaper they're purposefully making it worse. If you get me?
EDIT: I'm sure it would have taken a lot more time to code in "Do not allow >3 apps" than to just leave it. Same as taking out the wallpapers. It's just dishonest. I really hope people boycott the cheaper version, but then that's maybe why they're doing it.

So if you ever make a software, you better put every feature in the cheapest one. Who is going to buy the ultimate then?
In this case, instead of not putting air conditioning in the car, they cut couple lines of code out of the OS.
