This may be a noob question, but I've never figured out how to bend gradients.
I made an image to demonstrate what I want to do.

I want the gradient on the C to look like the bar on the left, dark to light all the way around. I made a sort-of example on what I want it to look like on the right.
You may think "looks like you already know how to do it". Well, no I don't. To make the one on the right, I just copy merged the one on the left and then used the warp tool. If I use the warp tool normally, it just makes it all gay. So...
How do I bend gradients, or conform them to the shape of my image?
