BF2S Forums 14 Kids WTF?

Women like that make me really wish we had a police state that had everyone's DNA on-file...

I know a family who has, I believe, 23 or 24 kids. The main VFW home in Michigan took each kid in as they got older because the parents couldn't afford to raise all of them on their own. Apparently, there is a veteran in the family. The problem I had was that each kid grew up in foster care, the parents lived near by but couldn't afford to raise the kids themselves and each kid eventually was given a full college tuition. Guess who paid for that....yes, our tax money and the donations of people who want to help the home.

No one can say it isn't our business when people like this abuse the system and use it to their advantage over and over. It becomes our business when everyone else is raising and paying for these kids, not to mention the harm it may cause this kids emotionally later.

I think it's even more disturbing that the fertility clinic implanted so many embryos and no one said anything.

Yeah I know. I'm just stating that if it wasn't for being unable to provide for them this shouldn't have been an issue.

Uh moderate way, Educate these people better so that they don't go doing anything crazy like having a bunch of kids they can't support.

Extreme way, If you have no heart force people to be to have to registrar to be able to have kids.

Yeah but then you would have to force people into either giving up their children or force abortions. Then we'll have a problem of who decides who could have kids and who can't and by what standards. You can see where this is going right?

But then it'd be unfair to punish the child like that. So as far as answers to this problem I really don't know what to say but fix education so stuff like this is avoided.

No welfare and food stamps simple as that. Want food ask someone else. I am sure people aren't heartless in feeding you. Plus it is more personal as if you need to pay someone back for helping you. Have welfare and food stamps off people will think twice in having kids.

fix the culture that promotes it

education isn't always great, but the parents don't value it, so neither do the kids

I'd really hate to have to watch another 60's style culture war.

But improved Education is the really only thing I could think of.

Part of the solution would be to move much of the public aid money to the educational system, and make the hiring process less political (its who you know, not what you know).

Many of the "teachers" in inner city schools are hired due to their connections, not their commitment, and they do a terrible job.  Increasing the teachers salary would go a long way too.  I could do a phenominal job teaching chemistry, but I can make 5 times as much working elsewhere.  Teaching salaries aren't competitive in today's market.

But the bigger problem here is the culture of various groups (names omitted) who do not value education, but rather the amount of offspring you can produce by age 20.  It is a culture of failure and irresponsibility, and I'm not sure how to fix that...
