Testament to how strongly certain Iraqis feel about George 'The Cunt' Bush, his administration and the shitfest they inflicted on their nation.

The shoe incident kind of summed up the bush years.

Try asking yourself why these supposed "future suicide bombers" might one day decide to take up the art of suicide bombing... might it have something to do with the fact that the US military absolutely ruined their country and killed many of their family and friends (hence why they're in orphanages possibly)?

I'm glad they built that shoe, it might serve as some sort of apt reminder to the world of what a stupid cunt George W. Bush really was.

We should have carpet bombed them instead of bankrupting our nation.  A fitting tribute to Bush and his nation building.

Carpet bombing can be expensive too... you should have just left them alone to play with their fictional WMD's.

Actually carpet bombing is an inexpensive way to use up old munitions without needing to pay someone to destroy them.  The US had millions of bombs after the first Gulf war that never got used and were aging.

I know Sadam and his government is a big hero of yours, but trust me when I say that nobody cares what the Irish think when it comes to global security.

Saddam was a cool dude I'll admit and one bonus of the Iraq war is that the Saddam posters on my wall have become collector's items but I'm afraid no one cares what armchair generals who pretend to be Vietnam vets think about global security either.

Unlike you, my government has a military and is not afraid to use it for political gain which would imply that they care what I think which has a direct impact on places all over the globe.

meh, who am I kidding, they don't care what I think.

I am glad that George ( the wanna be cowboy ) Bush is out of office,
he was without a doubt theworst president we ever had.

but that statue costed $5000 ?

that money could have been put to better use
especially at an orphanage

To be fair the article is on cnn so although the statue is a pretty awful symbol of what they think is right still think of how bias cnn is in presenting 'the shoe'

I think the shoe is a great symbol for the war that has torn that country to bits and the legacy of the Bush era. Like it or not that show throwing journalist will be in the history books as the full stop (or 'period' to you Americans out there!) to the story of George's Iraqi adventure.

I'm sure the historical rememberence of 'the shoe throwing' is a far better symbol of strength and beliefs of a country than a statue of a shoe. Like i said before, CNN will be bias thinking this statue means the country is 'raising terrorists'.  I guess that maybe the statue isn't best placed among children orphaned by the war?

Terrorism has nothing to do with this, it would only be Western ignorance that would associate the symbol of a shoe as portrayed by an artist (a strong symbol in Middle Eastern culture and a culturally relevant symbol given the current climate) with young orphans having a propensity towards suicide bombing in the future.

Yeah the Iraqi's really like their regime before the war:

Get hired from Saddam to build one of his 70 palaces. If you mess up you die. Good mercy and uplifting thoughts of your people.

Get invited to a room with Saddam or one of his sons to get raped. Is what everyone wants.

Die if you say anything in public against the leader. Great country to live in.

Throw a shoe at the leader get killed for it.

I was against the invasion of Iraq, but you know...  maybe we should've taken the Saddam approach.  I mean, if they hate the way we actually did things, maybe we should've taken the old school "salt the earth" method.  Then, they'd really have something to bitch about....  (of course, they'd all be dead and couldn't bitch then).

We've essentially sacrificed our prosperity for the sake of a country that doesn't even like us.  They've spent more time making spectacles out of things like shoe throwings than actually working together.

To put it bluntly, they deserved Saddam.  We should've left him there for Iran to worry about as well.
