Also, minty's tip of the day: Notice on the 3rd picture how the sun has a slight "starburst"? It doesn't happen if you are shooting wide open (as one would in the early morning), so I used a smaller aperture of f/11 to create this effect. f/11 and up are good for this, but just be weary of the effects of going past f/16.. quality can slightly degrade, and all the crap on your sensor shows up (I had to clone out some spots).

sweet jesus! the average size of the CR2 file is 22.6! raw + jpg, 24*2 = 762 mb's!

So.. I've been a little lax in telling you guys about the cadet photos.

Two days ago I picked up the lighting gear from my mate. For the flashes, I got two Nikon SB-26 and one Canon 580EX. Each had a PocketWizard trigger. Also got 3 lightstands (two 6 foot, and one 8 foot), two umbrellas and some flash gels. Combining it with my gear, we get this setup:

Yesterday I bought like 20 AA batteries (nowhere near enough ><), so I'll test out all the gear a little later today ^^

Need to get back taking photos, but the weather here is absolutely atrocious atm. If it's not raining it's too cold to do anything

Tested the stuff out. Was acting a little weird. Mm.. I might try to find a pdf manual for the 580EXII and the SB-26's.

I've got 5 PW Plus II's for triggering the flashes (one for the camera, and one for each flash).. but not all of them were firing. Hopefully I'll just need to change the batteries in them all. Luckily there is some redundancy built into the system - the SB-26's have an "optical slave" mode.. so another flash can trigger them. I can also set my 430EX to slave mode (to be triggered by the 580EXII).. but I think that's what was causing it not to fire with the pocketwizard.
