Now they are starting to boycott things from my country for billions of dollars and this can be the start to world war 3 because they are taking this so serious. I know that just because they are angry does not mean they are gonna start a war. but i read that nostradamus said that theres gonna be world war 3 in year 2008 and then i got surprised cause this could be true and he has been pretty accurate about other things. this could mean that from the first day someone planned our destiny and that sucks a little bit but what do you guys think about it and i know this is not so serious so thats why i did not post it in debate and serious talk.

What makes a war a World War? Well when a lot of countries are taking part in it.
Well almost all civilized countries are taking part in the war in Iraq.

I'm going to say something, and I don't intend it to be a 'brag' (although it might be seen that way), it is simply the truth: The only reason western nations are having (or have had) difficulty in places like Iraq or Vietnam or Malaysia, or whatever, is because western nation are/were fighting for something other than survival. They care about what happens to the place or the people, so they hold back. In a WW3, civilization vs. civilization scenario, this would not be the case. Nothing would be held back, and any middle eastern nation that saw fit to start such a war would be (quite literally) flattened.

I don't think it will come to a conflict of civilizations: Islamic civilization doesn't have a chance vs. Christian civilization in a military conflict (I use these terms to denote broad cultural areas - the actual religions are incidental to the argument), and I think they know that. All they can do is take advantage of our own self loathing and force us to defeat ourselves by giving concessions to thier ridiculous demands.

European Country's don't have Colony's anymore
A lot of country's are now in the NATO. and we will not let things escalate like in WW2 anymore
there was some sort of NATO at the time to keep the peace after WW1 but Germany got out of that group and Itally was very agressive in Ethiopia while beeing member.
also the world is less Nationalistic. both WW came out of Nationalism.
WW1 the Servians in Austria-Hungary (A-H) wanted to be part of Servia. then Gavrillio Princip killed the A-H crownprince and A-H attacked Servia. the Russians supported the Servians because they are also a Slavian country. then A-H allies with Germany and Russia with France.
the Germans attacked the French through Belgium but the Brits said support to Belgium whenever it got attacked. now everyone seeks allies and also in the colonies it is war. and voila a World War and then also the US gets involved because the german Submarines also attack American ships
WW2 the Germans became Nationalistic because of the deal that was made in Versaille after WW1. the Germans had to suffer huge humilliations. they had to give away a lot of land, pay huge amounts of repairmoney to the French and Brits adn may not have a army of more then 10.000 men.
then a man like Hitler comes the country is in ruïn, the Leaders are hated, and we are still nationalistic.
Hitler makes the german empire big once more.
great technology a good life for all germans (Germanic and Scandinavian people) and an expanded empire.
and the other country's do nothing because the people don't want more war. the French and Brits make under the pressure of the people defences instead of a mobile army like Hitler does.

anyway my point is that both WW1 and 2 came allmost the same way. and that is just not there that strong now.
there may be a Big war but we don't get much further than 1 continent or a part of it.
the world is to be placed into pieces now. Europe and the US help each other. then we have African country's (they are mostly neutral or at least not a coalition) South-East Asia, the former Sovjet Union, the Middle East and South America (and Antartica, pinguings are nasty creatures lol)
at the time of WW1 and 2 the world was: West-Europe+ Colonies ( Asia and Africa), North America, Sovjet Union (in WW2), the Ottoman empire, free asia and East Europe. especially the Colony's make a huge diffrence in the scale of the war.
