Who's still single-core?

Mine's a 12 year old Dell laptop that I installed Ubuntu Server on,

Currently I use it to host my site, www.thegreendonkey.com (So that routes to my house and to the server right beside me)
I have my printer plugged into it, so with my laptop, I can print from ANY place in the house over WiFi, if I were to config it some more, I can print from anywhere on the internet.

When I get my harddrive enclosure that I ordered off of eBay a while back, I'm going to transfer all my music and pictures onto it(with backups to my main rig) so it can 'serve' out the files to anyone on the network.

It will also, at that point, be a Bittorrent nightly downloader.

At one point, I had a BF2 server running on it(It's still installed I just don't run it anymore as my Gfx card died and I can't really play BF2 anymore)

And on top of all that, it taught me the basics of Linux.

you can still get a couple of cellerons and low end amd's in single core.

My laptop is the only single core left in my house. haven't had a single core as my main rig in about 3 yrs.

Main PC - quad
back up pc - dual
wife's lappy - dual
my lappy - single

Most of the people here probably have servers just to share media and or printers between multiple pc's. I had one running for a while but it seemed like a waste of power for me to run a dual core opteron just to share media.

That's a P3. The fastest PII is 450MHz.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
