Hypothermia is probably the biggest threat.

Yes, it must be freezing. I was just outside getting stuff from the city(Manhattan) and came back with stiff hands and a runny nose.

No I'd imagine impacting the water at a considerable speed whilst in a giant hunk of metal would be the biggest threat

Looks like the plane stayed in one piece when it hit the water. I'm not an expert, but it sounds like the pilot deserves a medal for landing a huge jet on water without crashing.

Fuck, that must really suck in the middle of summer, let alone during the coldest part of the year.

EDIT: Would this be just about the first time in history a plane has ever crashed onto water and survived?

It sounds like it was up and went right down. Still amazing that everyone is alive (according to a passenger on TV right now).

Yeah, I'm sure that's the only reason it didn't break apart. The idea of a plane landing on water at speed is pure fiction.

Kudos for staying calm. I was just watching the passengers getting off the plane sinking.

I thought they put the airport in Queens so all the crashes would happen there instead of Manhattan.

Local CBS 2 was one of the first ones there...they're saying that they got everyone off. Saying that the way the pilot landed it and averted disaster was very skilled.

Everyone made it.  I'm watching it live.

BTW, I'd hate to be watching this on the news at a LaGuardia gate just before I got on my own flight...

I feel sorry for the people working there. Business will probably go down considering how paranoid people can be.

Man that's some lucky people on that plane.  Kudos to the flight crew.

How long until they interview the passengers and at least one proclaims it was a miracle and that God saved them?

Now that I think about it, Airbus has some really shit luck around here when it comes to accidents.
