I did notice we had a thread for this at the time, (well for the biden part atleast) but I think it's better to hear and see the people themselfs say it in the OP.

Two questions:

1. Regardless of whether or this was hot air, do you think Powel and Bidens remarks are related?

2. In light of what has happened since then, anyone got an idea as to what the hell there actually talking about?  Financial?  Military in light of what is going on in the middle east?  The whole India thing?

Thoughts are appreciated.

Biden's delivery of this warning was kind of strange, but it was also very vague.

I think people made a bigger deal out of it than it should have received, because it was pretty obvious that the next president would face a lot of challenges like what Powell said.  The difference is that Powell mentioned it in a more sober way.
