I learnt that there is indeed TWO Wagga Waggas in au.
There's only one Woolloomooloo, though.Adams_BJ wrote:

Fuck Israel
do you often sit in bars alone?
No, there's loads of other people there.
Fuck Israel
it's possible to be alone in a crowd, dilbert.
So I am getting uncomfortably familiar with Japanese literature.
Bought a book called Naomi. It I'd supposed to be a classic. Sounds interesting.

Junichiro Tanizaki’s Naomi is both a hilarious story of one man’s obsession and a brilliant reckoning of a nation’s cultural confusion.
When twenty-eight-year-old Joji first lays eyes upon the teenage waitress Naomi, he is instantly smitten by her exotic, almost Western appearance. Determined to transform her into the perfect wife and to whisk her away from the seamy underbelly of post-World War I Tokyo, Joji adopts and ultimately marries Naomi, paying for English and music lessons that promise to mold her into his ideal companion. But as she grows older, Joji discovers that Naomi is far from the naïve girl of his fantasies. And, in Tanizaki’s masterpiece of lurid obsession, passion quickly descends into comically helpless masochism.
Yes but will you really impress Asian women with it.
and the fact that you are brown is already a big minus
Take it to the racism thread, Adam.
i bought kafka's metamorphosis not knowing it was public domain for $6. 90% of the text is analysis/introduction to the text. 10% of it is the actual text. i'm an idiot

"people in ny have a general idea of how to drive. one of the pedals goes forward the other one prevents you from dying"
you're an idiot for thinking Kafka writes long stories.
Wrote long stories
Fuck Israel
kafka lives i'm confident we'll see more kafka being published in our lifetime.
also you can use 'writes' in the passive voice, dilderp. if i'm writing an essay on kafka, i would say "kafka writes" when discussing something he said in a story. not "kafka wrote", because he is dead.

you can write in the passive mode anywhere. why does it have to be an essay? fucking bizarre.Dilbert_X wrote:

went to the british library yesterday and showed my gf the 'treasures' collection. original scrolls of the magna carta, early shakespeare folios, rare qurans, and the letters of john lennon! all very nice. a really loud american dad was trying to explain to his very uninterested 6 year old kids about queen mary's prayer book and all this stuff. very charming. a school-trip of 12 year old muslim guys, about 25 of them, were all clustered around a museum guide being given a talk and answering questions about the early christian bibles on display. all very agreeable. multiculturalism failing in action.
not a bad local library really, if you can pass the little scholar interview to be given access.
literally everyone around the king's collection in the plush leather/cafe area - everyone - had a macbook. bf2s'ers would have loved it. it was a 95%+ macbook area. hipster haven. naturally my second home.
8/10.
