I think the British parents are overreacting... they are still going to get their Christmas play after New Years...lol
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/topics/chris … tions.html

When is it going to be enough... Have the Muslim holidays... no problem... and have the Christmas party also...

Is this still no big deal to UK residents?

It's just a school play, who cares? They are still going to be performing it anyway.

inb4 "someone" says this is more appeasement from the UK.

OMG APPEAZEMENT JUST LIKE WEN CHAMBERLAIN WAZ SUKIN HITLARZ CAWK!

[/sarcasm]

The best part: Mothers on both 'sides' of the fence if you will believe both celebrations should have been planned for.

Am I the only one who thinks the principal of that school is a wanker? Should have planned for both. Throw in Hunnakah (sp?) too tbh it the school has a few Jewish kids there.

A while ago, when you start digging into each of the major religions it's easy to find parallels and cross references. I first heard about it I think when I was studying the Roman occupation of Jerusalem.

Mmm. I always liked it. Still, I prefer Buddhism and other similar philosophies to the monotheistic religions. For some reason shinto/celtic pagan/bhuddist religions never seemed to be involved as an excuse for war.

Where the religions of peace, Islam and Christianity, are a different story.

Who gives a fuck... they've swapped one bullshit fairytale celebration for another. Religion belongs at home and in the church, not in the classroom.

Do you mean stupid in the sense that there was one stupid, made up religious holiday being celebrated in the school in the first place or stupid in the sense that they replaced it with a different stupid, made up religious holiday? Or stupid in both senses?

This story has a distinct whiff of bullshit about it... sounds like one school principal has mismanaged her time in preparing the school calendar and in realisation of this has axed the nativity play because she realised she wouldn't have things adequately prepared in time. There is certainly no mention of Muslim parents asking for this special treatment, on the contrary, one Muslim parent, Sajad Hussain, actually said "It's not that complicated; they could have one event on one day and another on another day, they should have both celebrations at the school. If you do not have both it becomes a racist thing and that's why you have to be careful If an issue is made out of it, it could become nasty."

This is not an appeasement issue, it's an idiocy issue... but I'm sure the Telegraph is making lots of money portraying the false idea that this some sort of wider issue!
