The book came in.




I was not expecting such a beautiful cover. I don't want to put the book on the shelf and will instead keep it with my other rare stuff. Can anyone give me an idea of something to store it in that I can buy off of Amazon?

So I got a plastic book cover like the ones people store comic books in. I also bought a fire proof document bag. Good stuff.

oh yeah, a black hard mat, definitely 'CAD optimized' and not, erm, just the basically most responsive surface for any optical/laser sensor, period.

is this like the engineering equivalent of teenagers having their first pre-cum over RGB lights and 'gam0r el1te' gear.

a 'CAD optimized' mouse and mousepad. lmfao. yeah you need some cutting-edge tech to do all that pointing on screen!

if professional gamers opt for 400 DPI mice and seek-out avago sensors from the 1990s, you can connect the dots with what that says about the marketing behind modern mice and their ultra-high bajillion DPI mice. you don't need it to do pointy things on a screen. it is total bunkum.

i'll grant that you need a welll-functioning mouse/pad setup, of course. something ergonomic and comfortable and that is responsive. just as i need a good mouse in my day-to-day work marking up proofs with hand annotations. but a 'CAD optimized' mouse ... lmfao.

yeah, having a 2000 DPI mouse isn't going to help you isolate a single pixel. i can do that on my avago sensor mouse at just about any DPI setting. it's called having a mouse/pad that isn't fundamentally shit.

I don't expect to be doing much CAD but when I do I can't be without a spacemouse

People who play card games like MTG use playmates. The surfaces feel just like mousepad surfaces and you can use them as mousepads. I used to have some before I denerded my living space. What is cool about the playmat as mousepads is that you can find some really cool fantasy art.

I don't know about the effects of color but the surfaces aren't glossy and reflective. They are fabric.

My 970 came with a mousepad. I brought it to work cause they had none and have been using it for 3.5 years now.

I would resent being asked to personalize an office or cubicle. Anything short of spontaneous workplace decoration always seems forced. I would add a large, grey mousepad in response. Maybe some nondescript postcards of state parks. If asked, "I like my overcast state." Why should work want to know about your hobbies or what your family looks like. I'm not opposed to creature comforts at the workplace, but I don't really want to regard it as a second home, as a part of some weird exec/HR project. The "make yourself at home" stuff is nonsense anyway. They don't really want people to make themselves at home. There'd be portable stoves and people walking around in their underwear.

I want to decorate my classroom(s) all fancy but I have to share the rooms with others because a lack of space and the classes are special education so things get stolen and destroyed.

I personally made fancy hall passes at the start of the year and they were all stolen by October. After that I said "fuck it. They aren't worth nice things".
