But now in the age where it is almost impossible to hide information, how much do you believe really goes on. Being smack dab in the middle of NYC and Boston I am surrounded by it. Back in the turn of the century it was mostly bootlegging and moonshining. The 50's and 60's it was a lot of crunching small busnisses "rent" money for protection as well as disrupting trucking/ shipping routes or land piracy if you will. The 70's and 80's they made most of their moneyt in drug smuggling and sales but towards the end of that era a lot of OC went more legitimate so to speak. They bought up vending machine companies, waste management and put a strong arm on the unions.
