He'll mature. Hamilton wasn't much different in his rookie years.

Hamilton had an awesome rookie season. Vettel's already been in F1 for about three seasons now. 2010 is the season where he's in a top top car and he's also got some experience behind him. Different to Hamilton in 2007 who had a top top car, but it was his first season and he 'only' had Alonso as his team mate who was fresh off his double world titles and looking for a hatrick.

This.

BUT, it may not make much of an appearance if this goes ahead:

The organisers of the Belgian Grand Prix say the race may be run every other year. The Spa circuit may alternate in the F1 calendar with the nearby Nurburgring track in Germany.

Bastards. I certainly hope this doesnt happen, or at least, have both races every year.

Here's a look at the new United States grand prix track in Austin, set for the 2012 season and onwards:

It's run in an anti clockwise direction. Those curvy bits are modelled after Silverstone (Beckett's and Maggot's) and after the long back straight that bit is modelled after the stadium section in Hockenheim, then after that there's a huge multi apex right hander which is modelled after Turkey's famous turn 8. All in all, a decent circuit. Kinda copy and paste from others though.

Yeah, that was the general feeling at work when I found that at lunchtime today about copying. I do like the elevation changes, and that second picture which I didnt see before, shows it very well...even if it looks exaggerated, especially at turn 1 !!

They reckon it will be ready for 2012, but with construction due to start at the end of this year...thats cutting it a bit fine isnt it?!

Karun Chandhok on the new F1 track in Korea

It’s a really interesting layout. The track’s got a good mix of corners and I think we’ll see a lot of overtaking in the first sector – there are long straights into slow hairpins. The straight after turn one and two is really long, so we may see some good slip streaming there, like in Shanghai. From turn seven onwards, there’s a fast section of flowing corners all the way back to the start-finish line – so I think the Red Bull Racing guys will be happy in sectors two and three. It’s an interesting layout.

Looking at the facilities, the garages and team buildings look pretty much finished and they’re big! I think teams will need to bring around 30% more furniture to fill them! The grandstands also look reasonably finished. The track itself needs a bit more work on the asphalt and the kerbs, but the organisers think it’s all within their time-lines and are confident that it will be ready on time. And the locations nice, we’re overlooking the sea.

There’s certainly some enthusiasm for F1 here. There are a lot of people at the event today, which wasn’t heavily publicised, and there’s a lot of media, which shows an interest. The organisers say they have sold a significant amount of tickets, so it should be a good race. It’s been great to drive the Red Bull car again and thanks to my team, HRT F1, for letting me complete this demonstration run.

Meh, there's no videos of him doing any laps and you can't really trust what he says. It's just corporate talk.

Ah, finally some onboard shots. I was beginning to think it was just pictures, which would defeat the point of this event which was for publicity.

Formula 1's governing body has turned down all the entries from teams hoping to fill the vacant 13th slot in 2011.

To be perfectly honest, I never wanted a 13th team.. HRT are doing enough cluttering up as is.

Yeah, I don't even think we'll see HRT next season. Unless they merge with another team who got rejected.

Meh, I've come to realise that Team orders isn't that bad anyway, I don't really care if two cars from the same team aren't going to duke it out. If Massa doesn't like it he can always leave the team and find another one. Whoever goes in there needs to realise they need to be top dog and beat Alonso or at least match him (like Hamilton did in 07) if they don't want to be treated like that. At the end of the day, Massa has had a much worse season than Alonso. Compared to how he was in 2008 where he was better than Raikkonnen, he's fallen down somewhat.

I agree

I mean, when you can take wings from teammates, why can't you take their position as well?

And it's kind of ironic that the same people who say they want to ban it to promote "good racing" got their panties in a twist when Vettel crashed into Webber, and laughed at Alguersuari when he rammed Buemi..

Bit of a boring race, god knows how the soft tyres can last 99% of the race distance. The tyres in F1 are becoming a joke in terms of being racing tyres.

I thought it was going to be another night race.  I am aware the track isnt finished yet but it looks a bit bland imo.  Still if it promotes better racing that can only be a good thing, I remain to be convinced.

Thank god Pirelli are doing the tyres next year - they've promised to make the difference between the two much greater.

Apparently Bridgestone don't want to make the soft tires more fragile because they don't want the commentators to say that "those Bridgestones wear out quickly" or similar - bad marketing.

4 Things I want with tyres.

1. Multiple suppliers.
2. Qualifying tyres.
3. No requirement to use different compounds.
4. A tyre which wont last half a race let alone a full race, enabling 0, 1, 2 and even 3 pit stop strategies to be explored.

I did like in the buildup how they were playing the new F1 game, almost as advertising. Looked sweet as fuck.

That little part was more exciting than the race procession.
