- Stay out of my tank and stay away from my tank .
Just wondering, Jonny. How much does EA charge you to lease that tank of yours? I didn't know they even let the players rent the tanks to have sole exlusive rights to them... go figure. And also, do you realize when you create a squad just for the supply drops and then lock it, you actually waste one of nine possible squad slots that other people use? I know teams rarely use them all but it's something to think about. As far as "stay off my machine gun"... All I can say is that's a good way to not have engineers come to your rescue when you are too busy applying the club to your steering wheel. It's all a game and as long as your team's bullets aren't killing you for a tank-jack, you should feel lucky. I know I do.
Jonny, sorry. I already feel bad about that post. This is the place to vent and you have every right to do that. You're right, I'm wrong, You're attractive, I'm not. I'm over it if you are. I actually agree on most of what you said.
My point of view (remember this is my opinion)
1. First of all no one should be standing behind the tank unless it is a man w/ a wrench and he working his way on fixing the tank as it's being attacked. (again this shouldn't be done unless the tank driver was made aware that in time of need the repairer would go to this position.)
2. When I get out of tank to repair it myself do not come take it when you know I'm fixing it. unless you see enemies coming to take and your going to kill them. Could you please return it after you smit them thanks.
3. Don't stand behind the tank
4. Rinse and repeat.

ADDITION:
Stay away from my tank when im repairing it. Too often it happens that I destroyed a M1A2 on Karkand, backed up to the Hotel, got out to repair my tank, and some idiot jumps in, drives away and getting blown away by a LAV25.
Gunners, duck in the turret when under fire, you might last longer. My top spree on Karkand is 19 kills while gunner.
And last but not least, if you want to drive a tank, make sure you are an ENGINEER! Assault, snipers, specops etc; STAY AWAY from armor, you are worthless in it!

Your first point, totally agreed. happens to me all the time.. Except the people that do it to me wait til I finish repairing before they drive away. I'M NOT SOME VALET SERVICE. When people do that to me, I mine them. You don't steal an engineer's tank, buddy. Especially an Engineer with an attitude.Bernadictus wrote:

Your last point about all other kits stay away... I have to disagree. I use to be all anti other kits in tanks. but if you're good enough you wont have to get out to repair it, so you wont need to be engineer.
Last night on Mashtuur, I was a medic, in a tank, and the commander. Reason? Nobody was using our tank, nobody was being commander, and we were losing tickets like crazy, so I was medic so I could revive fallen soldiers around my tank. And I only died once. Needless to say, we won. pwned.

Hey.
A good tanker is a good tanker. But even a good tanker has problems on maps with air support.
On Kits. It does not matter what kit you play when in Armor, but I agree that an Engineer does make you a great asset when you convoy with your armor.
I get lots of TK when in armor, and I mean every which way.
I recognize that it is a game. When my vehicle gets stolen I just leg it to my next point. It is a game anyway.
My Armor issue is the people who drive away without giving you the chance to be the gunner. Gunners help.

LOL i love the tank and APC faster than walking halfway across a map and u gets the added protection (to some degree) am sick of hearing peeps spouting about how they never use armour cos they got skill as ground pounder....hell ok u walk from one end of kubra dam to the other im dammned if i will, and as most have said already there is nothing more annoying than those idiots who can see your in a position of turning around and stand in the way...sorry guys i dont drive in 3rd person perspective so i cant see you if ur behind me when im reversing or turning around..its called limited vision...and yes i do my fair share of ground pounding as well heck with my k:d im very skilled at dying lol!....just read the bit about being an engy only in a tank all others stay away...wtf are u on about? i'll get in a tank regardless of what kit iam lol try fixing ur tank when its been c4'ed....yes being an engy helps at times but it isnt the be all and end all of armour drivers!

Most of what have been said is true, but what bothers me is that you (NOT meaning you personally jonnykill, but in general) act as if the tank is yours to use alone, I mean you may be the best tank driver from all, but others want to use them too (like I do) and I get extremely pissed off when I get shot by my own team mates because they want to use it, like if they own the freaking machine!, its just like with choppers, I've been shot more near choppers by my own team mates then my enemies and its looking like it that it won't take long before the same will happen to me with tanks.. and that my fellow people is really freaking annoying...
Though that are my experiences though.

I do the same, all the alternate views I use for that, thats how I've saved my ass many times and being able to get a roadkill or headshot with the tank's cannon:P
"jonnykill wrote: WTF is the deal with people hitting the exit button while in a tank moving at full speed ?"
I can't and will not speak for all the other BF2 players, but I do it when I see that it becomes too dangerous to stay on it, for example when there are multiple anti-tank people running around or when its clear that the driver itself is too incompetent to drive, hence jumping off, even if it wounds or even kills me (though then it doesn't make a difference ofcourse).
And about TK punnishment, I only punnish when I believe that its on purpose, and even then I'm usually a reasonable guy.
But ofcourse there are people who think they own eveything and can't do anything wrong so if they get teamkilled they instantly TK punnish you.
They should do something about that feature since it just doesn't work in many cases/situations.
The last thing that people should remember is to stay with what you do best.
I'm best with Sniper (still enjoy killing chopper pilots with M95/have over 20 kills at that) and anti-tank so thats what I mostly use when no vehicles are involved.
When there are vehicles involved I would use the transport since their fast and small.
I'm for that matter okay with tanks, no matter if I'm the driver or gunner (prefer driver though) but like with the chopper I'm a far better gunner then flyer so I tend to search for good pilots to take the flying over from me so that I can use the gunners seat.
Thats how I do my things, I think that most others here do that aswell since it usually plays the most comfy.
And you can also learn in Singleplayer mode how to propperly drive a tank, thats how I did it>.<...

I dont even like it when all someone does is armor whore. People are gonna flame me about adapting to the game but I'm sick of that shit. Its not like I enjoy having to play a round as AT or Spec Op the whole round because I'm the only guy on my team who realizes thats what has to be done to get the armor whore outta there. I don't just play the game to rack up the points(or to brag about it either)...I just play to have fun. I just like ground combat above all else.
Same with me, I usually use the sniper or anti-tank kit since they suit me best and still do well with driving a tank, it all depends on how good the driver self is, if he/she/it is good then it doesn't matter, if he/she/it is bad.... then don't drive the tank at all:P..=[4th]=SlayThem wrote:

Let me rewrite this . All I'm saying when I say " my " tank it's the tank I'm in at the moment , not forever .FilthCuervo wrote:

As far as wasting a slot for another squad well that argument is pretty weak . In the last 6 months I can still count on one hand where all 8-9 squads were used up . For the majority most people are lonewolves anyhow on Karkand . I make myself squad leader to call in supply drops exactly where I need them to retreat and get repairs , nullifying the need for and engineer to fix the tank . Again and engineer fixing the "bullet magnet " has a crappy chance of fixing my tank 100% without dying .
As far as people who are dumb enough to get in the gunners seat up top - well if they choose to die within ten seconds it's their parogative . Like I said eariler I haven't seen anyone last more then ten seconds up top - this is Karkand we are talking about .
And last if someone TK's me for the tank I do this . I pick the market or train accident and get run over by them on purpose , then I punish them - that's 2 in a row . Then while he is in battle I get a jeep and shoot it up so it has like 10% health left . Then I ram him from behind . Usually it turns out that he TK'ed me and I punish him again . That's 3 now . And considering all the threads out there like this one he is going to run over like 3 guys as well and whala ! I just repete this over and over till he gets booted . Then I can usually snag the tank considering he just got kicked and the tank is sitting there getting shot up by AT units . Then I just respawn and snag the tank again - done . And how bitter sweet this type of revenge is ? This is the only time I appreciate the TK system .
JK
Oh and another thing . It IS best to be an Engineer when you are a tanker for 2 reasons . One being if the commander on your team refuses to give you a supply drop ( IE : he is too stupid to realise the need for a sup drop in the middle of the street . Or he is a complete noob who has no idea what he is doing . Or simply won't give you any ) you can at least fix the tank yourself and get back into battle without having to rely on anyone else . Two if you get shot up by another tank and you are so low on health that you know the next shot will kill you , you at least have the advantage of exiting the tank , running behind some cover to drop a few mines . When the enemy tank comes around the corner looking to finish you off he gets killed in the proccses . I have done this a few times and it friggin rocks ! WTF are you going to do as a Sniper or medic in this sutuation ? Drop your rifle and hold up the peace sign RoyWereForUniMare ? Also why would you exit the tank when you see Anti Tanks units ? If your in the tank stay in it at this point and kill thoes mofos . Don't jump out and kill yourself - you accomplish nothing .
One last thing . When a guy who has more rank then I do snags the tank I immediately jump into a vodnik and support him . As we leave the the mian base I stop and drop a few mines at the inclined hill at the train accident . Not on top but just over the hill . This way enemy jeeps cant see them coming down from from the suburbs at high speeds and don't have means to slow down quickly enough and they are dead meat - if they snag it . This also gives a tanker or other friendly vodnik a fresh look at them . Another good idea is to place a set of 2 high and right and another set lower to the left . This makes room for anyone who really wants to take this rout and the likeyhood of them being seen in the first place .They can see the mines and simply drive around them . After placing my mines there I go to the suburbs and place a few for that lone jeep who makes his way up there . Then I go and find the tank to support it by being a mobile repair station . I usually die doing this but rack up some nice points . If I die too often then I stay behind the building , near the TOW missle in the court yard and man my gun to pick off troops that have made it to the high point in back of the tank . There is a spot pretty far up and has a ladder in back of the ally and troops can get up there and ruin a tankers day . If need be I'll recruit that tanker and when he is hurting I'll tell him to "move to this position" right near me so I can repair him .

Oh oh oh and one last last last thing . Today I was on Karkand and saw somthing pretty cool . The USMC guys had the tank , 2 APC's all lined up in a row putting mass fire on the allyway . All of them must have been Engineer because they were taking a pounding from Anti Tank units but held their ground repairing each other . I was like woah - that's effective . You can't do this with any other class . Reason number three to be an Enginner as a tanker .
Your last point about all other kits stay away... I have to disagree. I use to be all anti other kits in tanks. but if you're good enough you wont have to get out to repair it, so you wont need to be engineer.
So your saying you can last the round without getting hit by other APC's , tanks , Anti tank units ???? LoL - you have to be kidding me . I have only made it once through the whole round but I sure as hell needed repairs . If you can last the whole round without getting hit or needing repairs then you should play the lotto that day - it's your destiny .

Your first reason I had not yet looked at it that way, now that I have I do agree with you about that, its a smart solution.jonnykill wrote:

Your second isn't logical, since you're implying that when you're a engineer you can lay down mines and hide, but a sniper wouldn't be able to even hide, though they cannot defend theirselves aswell as engineers against tanks it is not a good enough of reason.
And if a attacking tank would come around the corner, don't you think that he can shoot it from there and that he most likely could see you planting the mines (and you can even in a tank see enough for that, or you must be blind to miss seeing those big round mines on the ground).
And also your theory would only work when the other tank would attack from very close, but I prefer to shoot others from a distance so then it wouldn't matter if you have mines.
Then the Anti-tank kit would be best in such a situation.
And the last thing about the anti tank units, when their only 1 or 2 of them I would stay in the tank (if the tank was still 100%) but if there are more I will get my ass out of the tank asap, I survive then usually better outside of the tank with my sniper kit then to stay in the tank or get out as a engineer.
Though if the situation was different and it would be in a place where they have alot of hiding places and I would have little space to avoid any upcoming rockets and stuff I'd get my ass out of that place with or without tank.
But in a big open place where they have less hiding places I would have little problem with them.
But thats because I just am good with a tank and not great such as you, everyone has his/her own ways of looking after their own ass, hence prefering transport that I do much better.

If you don't like people spawning on you maybe you should be intelligent enough to lock your squad?jonnykill wrote:

Saty out of the tank . If a tanker is covering this area and mowing down troops left and right just let him do his job . I can't tell you how many times people jump in my tank and get killed instantly . The tank is bullet magnet . All kinds of troops are shooting at the tank in this position . The tank is also an artillery magnet . I've only seen a gunner last no more then 30 seconds in the turret when taking on the spawn area in this fashion and only getting 2 kills on average . So don't do it .
One last thing I need to gripe about . WTF is the deal with people hitting the exit button while in a tank moving at full speed ? I get about 7 TK's IAFR by idiots doing this . I'm sick of it , especially when they punish me for it . When I get the tank I make my own squad to be able to call in sup drops where I want them . Then some idiot joins my squad so he can be the gunner . Then the idiot hits the exit vehicle button and gets run over . Bad move idiot . Stay off my squad and GTF out of my tank !
If you see that a tanker is really good and getting mass kills then switch your role in the game . Grab a car and take out the artillery . Cover the right side of the leve that might have an infantry unit wise to the tank trying to out flank the battle and snag the suburbs . Do anything but stay near the tank . Stay out of the friggin way and let the tank do it's job .
Also to the idiots demanding mutiny on a commander in a tank, when I'm a commander and I'm in a tank it's to prevent enemy spec ops from stealing our armor, if you ask nicely I'll get out and give the tank to you, but if you declare a mutiny as soon as I'm camping armor in our uncap I think I'll just run you over for spite.
Intelligent enough huh ? Not only is this for noobs who JOIN my squad this goes for noobs and lonewolfes as well . Although locking my squad would prevent someone from joining my squad some noob lonewolf could jump in my tank and go against my advice . Understand what this post is about ? It's advice - nothing else .CRUSHER wrote:
