True that. But is it too much too ask merchant ships to mount a couple of gatling guns on their boat to ward off two-bit RPG-toting 'yaaarrrhhh' pirates?Commie Killer wrote:

Yeah, but some security "experts" think that mounting a .50cal could escalate the situation. "You get a .50cal, then they start carrying RPGs"...oh wait, they already are!Parker wrote:

hell, all they would need to do is mount a .50, or even a little 40mm cannon....once you put a hole in their paddle boat, they wont be worried about trying to get your boat.
Seems logical to me.deeznutz1245 wrote:
But seriously, whay cant these companies hire a civilian security team to sail with them that are trained to combat these sorts of problems.

Actually when I went to classes for my boaters license this was the one part I paid attention to. You are allowed to protect your vessel from anyone attempting to overtake it with deadly force. So be it that those trying to board your vessel are not part of an organized, internationally recognized maritime enforcement such as a nations Coast Guard. In other words, you can kill you sum pirates.Braddock wrote:
what's the maritime law regarding such acts of defence?
In that case I'd be straight on the phone to my nearest cannon dealer!deeznutz1245 wrote:

The laws surrounding the ownership of cannon on the other hand, do restrict it. The easiest path is to get a firearms licence for your weapon of choice.Braddock wrote:

Unless Flecco you are more than 12 miles of the coast where it is considered international waters.Flecco wrote:

My recent experience on a barramundi fishing boat entailed a .44 magum revolver. Big silver one like the ones in John Wayne movies. It was used for shooting cros tbh but you get the picture.
Well, chances are he'll have to dock at some point, which means having some sort of documentation that proves he's allowed to have two batteries of 12 pounder cannon mounted on both port and starboard sides beneath the deck.deeznutz1245 wrote:
