I'm a massive H3 fan, and i'm wondering if GOW2 would appeal to me.

If there's a demo, i can't get it because uni net blocks downloads like that.

It really is. I love Halo 3 and Halo's storyline is better IMO, but Gears 2's gameplay exceeds by just a bit in everything else.

I haven't played Gears 2 yet, but I'm on the last boss of the first Gears game, and it beats Halo 3 hands down. I've only played a few H3 campaign missions, and it seems like a repeat of H2. GoW was too short though tbh.

Depends on what you are going after. Campaign storywise, I prefer GOW2 over any of the Halo stories. GOW2 story legnth is shorter than Halo though. However, MP's are totally different. GOW2 is max 10 players, 5 on each side. Halo matches are often times much bigger and much larger maps, with vehicles. On GOW2, someone seriously needs to put autobalancing when players on a team leave. 2 versus 5 Annex is just not fun.

Eh, I don't know. They're very different playing styles. Most people who like Halo tend to like Gears, but I don't think that's because of any similarities between the two.

I have loved both games.

I am not sure whether I prefer one over the another, but I have thoroughly enjoyed both games.

If you can afford to get the game, go ahead and get it. It is one of those games that you would not regret on getting.

This and Gears has a Horde mode The fun will never end (ok maybe it will but it will take a long while )
And the buddy system is worked out better+ better feel to it aswell

Wingman is an epic idea for a game mode. Wouldn't be surprised to see this pop up more in other games alongside/as an option in team deathmatch.

Yeah I know, H3 wasn't the first to do much at all as far as games in general go. I just wanted to point out that of the two, Halo had it too because that's pretty much all I played (plus custom games) on Halo.

The only real difference about Gears' wingman mode is that in Gears you can revive your mates a fair bit.

Kinda like having a 2v2 match in BF2 with everybody playing as a medic.
